Today is a bittersweet day, it is both my youngest sons birthday (Happy birthday B)! So so proud of him, he’s in Shanghai right now so hopefully “living it up”! But on a more somber note, it is also a day of remembrance of that horrific day as we know it
“9/11”. I as a New Yorker will never forget, it is like yesterday that I remember that morning, running to each of my kids schools to bring them home as it felt like the world was ending. I will never forget. My prayers are with all those families who lost loved ones and whose lives were changed forever. That includes the heroic efforts of all involved in the search and rescue and eventual rebuilding. It takes a village and the U.S. unifies when we need to. We are stronger because of it but hope we will never see another day like that ever again.

Onto this post…….just back from a trip to PB over Labor Day weekend. It was short and sweet and better to have happened than not at all. The weather while hot was surprisingly not any hotter than what we had in NY and we had plenty of sunny days.  Thankfully, going back again soon this time for a girls trip:) HOWEVER and this is a big however, we are now watching Hurricane Florence as it is looking quite fierce so fingers crossed for all in it’s path!

It is baby steps in terms of decorating but I am most definitely making progress. It is just a little trickier doing this from afar and I would prefer to take my time and make good decisions that I will want to live with a long time instead of hasty ones that I will regret.

But anything that I have done, I must say I do love. I just love the feeling/vibe of this house, it makes me happy walking into it. The clean, crisp open welcoming vibe is good for the soul. So as I do here and there, sharing the most recent progress made. Here we go…..

Love the open floor plan…..such an easy to live in layout and really like that all rooms are used all the time!

Not a day goes by there that I am not in awe of my spectacular hood from Classic Customs Metal works, Cindy who owns the company is a delight to work with, cannot recommend them enough!

Our incredible screened in porch being used at different times of the day……..

Nothing like early mornings on our porch with coffee in hand, just reveling in the silence

I cannot tell you how much we enjoy our covered porch. Whether early morning with a cup of coffee (above) or evening with a cocktail..this is a fabulous space!

And if you look close you can see my husbands head, he is perched there almost every night…..such a great place to watch TV at night too:)

Still so in love with my all Studio Tullia pillows that are part of the Palmetto Bluff Collection on my shop click here to see them

New hurricanes and this pretty faux floral are perfect for my dining room

And so thrilled wit my bathroom I really love every detail, it is as practical as it is beautiful

And, big news! I finally got my blue and white bathroom! I love this blue white cherry blossom grasscloth paper from Thibaut, it is perfect in this powder room.

And of course loved using my gorgeous monogrammed towels in this bathroom:)

This ginger jar is not staying, I have a much smaller one I am putting there, but this dude was just hanging around on the floor so I gave him a purpose:)

Love that its a grasscloth, the extra texture makes it a perfect choice

These pillows are for an upstairs window seat bunch but played around with them for my benches outside (there are two more darker ones that are part of this grouping)

We use our bikes and golf cart more than we use our car! Bike riding is the best in PB, and these bikes are fantastic.

My front porch never gets old!

Seen from the kitchen

Part of food that I served for visiting gu

The great room is coming out so beautifully, its a large room with high ceilings and I have to say such an incredibly comfortable room, the kind you don’t want to leave!

Love these new custom pillows, trim from Lee Jofa and fabric from Kravet

Had these pillows made and they look as good as I was hoping….perfect for the room.

Working on my bookshelves, working from the bottom up:) Still have a ways to go and just bought a bunch of books to fill in, hopefully next time! Don’t look too closely at those picture frames, they still have their original “faux pics” that they came with lol- another thing to add to my list!

And that’s a wrap for this chapter. I cannot wait to go back, I really love and thrive in that more laid back pace and it really is a happy place even with the humidity:) If I can survive August in the south, I can do it all!

Now just praying that Florence has a mood swing literally and figuratively and ventures out to sea and leaves the entire Eastern seaboard alone! Prayers for all in the path of this horrible hurricane. I look forward to going back in the fall months when it’s milder and to me, perfect weather. Thanks for sharing this fun journey with me, so great to have a wonderful sounding board! Until next time……

I had to laugh when I finally found your husband’s head. He looks like he is enjoying his television and beautiful new patio. Your home is beautiful and I am praying Hurricane Florence takes a sudden turn out to sea and misses the East Coast.

Could you tell me exactly which Shifman Mattress collection you purchased and why?

SO beautiful! I love every single room and that wallpaper in your powder room is to die for. Would love to know the name. I love how you made it so beautiful but still so inviting, not always an easy thing to do. So many homes feel sterile and not inviting. I hope you are spared the path of the storm and looks like those shutters will get put to good use!

Tina, this PB home is “enchanting.” As is everything you do! Happy Birthday to your son too.
All of us around the country are watching the hurricane as it progresses toward land, hopefully, it won’t bother PB too much. All of our Gulf and Atlanta coastlines have been hit entirely too hard in recent years, and the storms seem to be getting worse, or maybe the news just reports “warnings” so far in advance. I will never forget everyone around the country, including you, pitching in and helping Houston when HARVEY hit us. The entire country does, in fact, come together when we need to. The memories of 9/11 are as strong for me as they are for you. None of us will ever forget that horrific day and the ones to follow. I’ve been hearing about all the health issues of 100’s or 1000’s of people who went there to help afterward, and it’s just tragic. For me, it seems like yesterday, not 17 years ago. 17 YEARS !!! Please, Lord, spare our countrymen the wrath of Hurricane Florence. I know if help is needed our country will unite to do what is necessary where ever it’s needed. Sending love, my precious friend.

Such a lovely home. I can see why you love escaping there. We here in California are watching the east coast weather report as well, as my NY dwelling son & his wife were here this weekend for my other son’s wedding. Many wedding guests are hoping they make it home as well. Best wishes.

Thanks for all the PB pics! I cannot get enough of the beautiful pictures. Also, thank you for including the sources. I am very interested in using the NO-SEE-UM screening.
Happy birthday to your son! Today is also my brother’s birthday, as well as my granddaughter’s birthday!

Tina, all I can say is your vacation home is “AMAZINGLY BEAUTIFUL” ❤️ Thank you for sharing your home with all of us.
Blessings, Patty from Colorado

How many inches above the kitchen island are the pendents?
The house is simply beautiful Tina!

Where can I get the bath towels with the blue Asian Figures sewn into them? I love them and would like to order them.

Tina – It’s coming together so beautifully, I love following the progress. It looks like you put an outdoor kitchen (or range & hood) on the screen porch). Can you tell me more? Or will this be a later blog post?

Cherry Blossom Grass Cloth/Thiabut Wall covering in Guest Bath Is smashing. Really love all your pillows and trims, just FAV!!! Summer Home is really coming along Tina, Beautiful!

Running out of accolades, this is sublime! I just love the grasscloth paper, any idea of the name? I may need to copy:-) I can only imagine how happy you must be with the outcome, I am really enjoying watching the progress. Thank you for including all your treasured resources, my sister is building in Kiawah and she has started following you and made note of some of your names. Love your blog, always something beautiful and interesting.

Suggestion…….. paint the back of your bookcases a pale blue. Will make your blue and white pop!

I love your master bathroom. Can you tell me what kind of glass you used inside the cabinet doors that have the wood detail on top of them?
