Hello and happy fall! Finally feeling like fall over here, yesterday actually needed 2 layers, a good problem to have:) I am so excited to start bringing out all my sweaters, boots and vests, all staples as the weather starts to transition.

Every season I treat myself to a few staples that will see me through the season in addition to pulling out favorites from the previous season. Big on the list for me are cashmere sweaters, comfy boots and vests. I love dressing in layers and would happily take 2-3 layers over a big cumbersome coat. So as I did a little retail therapy a few days ago,  I wanted to share some of my favorite fall staples, many of which happen to be on sale too!

I am all about classic dressing, I like simple tailored clothes that stand the test of time. I believe in buying good pieces particularly for fall/winter as it’s such a long season and there are items I have had in my closet for many many years that I still love! I an not a huge trend follower unless I just happen to love that trend. So today is all about day to day basics, things that can get you through the work week, stylishly. Time to choose your three faves-

ITEM 1 I could live in cashmere sweaters. When I find them on sale and they are of a certain quality, I typically will buy a few in different colors. I tend to stick to neutrals. These are wonderful, so comfy and cozy and priced right for a high quality cashmere. Several colors too, click here.

ITEM 2 Bought this a few weeks ago, it’s a great staple for every fall wardrobe. So easy to wear and looks adorable zipped up or down, great layering piece in 3 good colors, click here

ITEM 3 Not sure about you but we have had a lot of rain, so a pair of stylish rain boots is a necessity, year round. These are cute, I like that they are so easy to slip on and off and the gray detailing adds a nice “little something extra” . Click here

ITEM 4 How about a big cozy wrap? I have a few of these all in neutrals, soft gray, heather, oatmeal and black. I love that this elegant piece has all those colors and did a double take at the price. In fact I bought one as a gift for a friends up coming birthday,  who I know will love it too:) Click here

ITEM 5 Just bought this sweater, as a Veronica Beard store just opened near us. I bought it in the ivory, it looks white here but is really an ivory. Love the button detailing, click here

ITEM 6 How fabulous is this long belted cardigan from Joie? This brand every season always comes out with things I cannot say no to especially for every day basics. Love this piece, great color too that goes with everything! This reminds me of cozy fall weekends apple and pumpkin picking.  Click here

ITEM 7 One brand that works well for me is Theory, this white button down is on sale for under $100. The reason I like this and am sharing it,  is because its a lighter weight shirt so perfect for putting under sweaters and/or cardigan. It won’t feel too heavy, I love a crew neck with a white collared shirt underneath, a classic look for sure. Click here

ITEM 8  Another great Barbour piece, perfect for everyday running around, two great colors. Lightweight makes it practical, nothing like wearing a super heavy coat that makes you feel like you can’t move, no thanks! This is practical, good looking and reasonable. Click here

ITEM 9 Always loved the look of a smart pair of sailor pants. Year round classic elegance, this paired with a simple fitted turtleneck is such a great look ala Jackie O. These look like a nice fitting pair with great detailing. Click here

ITEM 10 A fitted black turtleneck is always part of my wardrobe come fall and winter. Whether worn solo with a great fitting pair of pants or a skirt and boots, this is a must have, and this one from AG looks like a good one,  click here

ITEM 11 This is a steal and a half! Pretty color fall, lovely long suede olive vest with lace insets, can’t get over the price. I could see this with an all black outfit or even brown, could be very pretty with a tonal look, don’t love the way it is shown here, but imagine it with a long sleeved sweater underneath, click here

ITEM 12 This kind of a boot is a must have for me, has a little heel, not too high.Easy to wear as it slips on, which works well, no annoying buckles and zippers! I bought a pair of Donald Pliner boots a few year ago that were super comfy, the leather was like butter so giving these a try plus they are priced right. Click here

ITEM 13 How cozy does this featherweight cashmere cable knit sweater look? Like it’s meant for sitting fireside with a cup of hot chocolate if you ask me:) Click here

ITEM 14 Finding a good fitting pair of pants is like hitting the jackpot. There are a few brands that work really well for me so I stay devoted to them. Theory is one of them, they fit like a glove. These were such a deal that though I do not personally care of the belt, it was removable so these made sense. This slender style is very flattering and love that they are a on pull on pant, so easy. Click here

It is no surprise I really like your classic taste to dressing as I do decor. I could easily wear any and all of these and those black sailor style pants are fabulous, I may need to get those;-)

All great choices, Tina! Have had my walk-in closet re-done and am editing thing down ruthlessly.
Have to agree, love cashmere, easy to wear and smaller pieces are easy to wash as well. One iconic British brand used to make fabulous between-season cashmere sweaters, hit just below your hip with 3″ side slits, a slit at the neckline and very yummy spice colors, and very well priced. Fell in love with Barbour after my hubby purchased their waxed jacket, loved it more when I heard that when the Queen had hers sent in for its annual waxing and they offered to replace it, she politely thanked them but refused to part with her beloved jacket! (You can do the waxing at home, it not difficult to do.) Their products only look better with age.
Any pant without a waistband I’m a fan of. In fact am having a tailor make up several wider-legged flat-front pants in some lightweight mens’ suiting fabric simply because I can’t find what I’m looking for at a reasonable price. I need to replace some pieces but don’t feel like spending $500 a pair. I just add a cashmere sweater or sweater set or great shirt and I’m good to go!

All beautiful especially love the Veronica Beard sweater, the short rainboots and that beautiful wrap. I agree, classics are worth the investment, they never go out of style. I have 3 Chanel jackets that I have owned for over 10 years and I wear them all the time and enjoy them as much as I did when I first got them. Cashmere is part of my winter wardrobe too. If you have never gotten yourself a cashmere robe, you should- they are so comfortable you will not want to take it off!

Your posts are always enjoyable but are an especially welcome diversion now. Thanks for your efforts. We are living in the middle of Michael’s devastation, thankful for what’s left, and amazed no more lives were lost.
