Hello and happy Friday afternoon. Thrilled that it’s the weekend, I need and am craving some down time after a very busy week catching up and working on many different projects, both big and small. We all need time to recharge and since we are busy with believe it or not our holiday collections, my brain is on sensation overload:)

Anywho,  from time to time post on these “design details”  posts.  where I will focus on a specific design detail that I am particularly fond of. It can be an architectural element, an accessory, type of furniture, wallpaper, basically anything that strikes my fancy related to design.

Today’s topic is all about metal hoods. I had the good fortune to experience having a custom metal hood first hand and what an incredible experience it was. I have Classic Custom Metal Works to thank for that, namely Cindy Mullen the principle behind the firm. I cannot rave enough about Cindy. Her professionalism, quality of product, communication was unrivaled. But you know what I loved most? It was her unbelievable investment in making sure I not only got what I wanted (and it surpassed my dreams and expectations) but in making sure it was perfect. And it was!

I have always loved the look of metal hoods and knew one day I would find a reason to have one. So happy we did it for the Palmetto Bluff house, it really does make such a beautiful statement and the finish, style, everything about it was exactly what I dreamed of. So thought it would be fun to take a look at metal hoods in various shapes, colors and kitchens.

And if a metal hood is in your future, I cannot recommend Classic Custom Metal Works highly enough! Click here to visit their website (it is not yet done but you can get their contact info)  and here to follow them on Instagram. Now onto seeing metal hoods in action……

Do you have any idea where to find the hanging light fixtures with the dark shades in the Elanor Cummings kitchen photo above?

Unfortunately Classic Custom Metal Works’ website is NOT up and running–they have a ” work in progress” when you try to go to the website. Just thought you might want to clarify for your readers.

Quite nice. Wish list. Just getting the kids through college now, though. Thanks for the opportunity at a sweet little salt and pepper shaker set. Rattan is so fun, I love it in my house.

Metal hoods are truly a lovely touch in a kitchen! Stunning!

One of the first things to note when buying a metal hood is what the height from the floor is and its position over the stove—-we had a hood where we had to be continuously super careful not to gash our heads or poke our eyes out.

Beautiful!

Amazing kitchens

Whoa, who knew these were so popular? Most of the designs are beautiful. Some can look a little medieval. All in all very striking. Thank you for stepping up my design game, Tina!

You DID save the best for last! Love your new PB kitchen. What did you use on the walls? Is it marble? Thanks so much!

My kitchen has a metal and glass hood and it is amazing. Love every one of them!

Easy to see why one would love the metal hoods. By any chance does anyone know the manufacture and style name of the runner in the picture featuring the Kithen Lab metal hood?

So gorgeous! I love the look- and might need to consider doing one for our new build, breaking ground in June! Gotten so many great ideas and have an entire file just of things from your blog😊

Dear Tina,
I am sorry to disagree. These hoods all look so big and bulky. Perhaps here in Australia we seem to use smaller, unobtrusive hoods. I think hoods should disappear into the background.
Love your blog.
Cheers,
Marie
