Hello and happy new year! Wow, it is officially 2020! This is so exciting, I am giddy about starting a new year and all that it promises to bring. And speaking of Giddy, I wanted to feature the fabulous desktop calendar we did with Giddy Paperie! This is simply a must have for any blue and white lover and each month is as pretty as the next.
Giving away one calendar to a reader also so be sure to thrown your name in the hat at the bottom by leaving a comment. This calendar was dreamed up by two blue and white, golden retriever loving girls who became friends. I couldn’t love it more and so excited to now proudly have it on my desk both at home and office.
You can purchase yours by clicking here, we are down to the last 50 or so, and when they are gone, that is it! Let’s take a look at just how gorgeous this calendar is.

MY TAKEAWAYS FROM 2019
The most pressing questions of 2019? When oh when will cereal makers use Ziploc bags on cereals? Lol, meant half joking but seriously…can they just get that together!!
No one will take care of you like yourself so take time to be good to yourself. Whatever that might mean, whether its a beauty treatment once a week, a walk or jog, treating yourself to something special, a quick trip..whatever. To live your best life, you have to feel your best and taking good care of yourself is key to that.
Don’t be afraid to say no. Sometimes you can do things and sometimes you can’t, let me take it a step further- sometimes you want to do things and sometimes you don’t. And that’s right, sometimes you just have to say no. Those that genuinely care for you and cherish you, will still be there. They talk a lot about the phenomenon of FOMO, fear of missing out, I think many of us have experienced that on one level or another, I certainly have. And sometimes pushed myself to do things I didn’t really want to do or maybe was too exhausted to do, but I have learned in my ripe old age that it’s OK to say no, there will be other opportunities, more fun times, etc…saying no is liberating!
Listen to your body. If you feel something is not quite right, then go see a doctor. A friend of mine ignored some signs and turns out she has an illness that has progressed further than is ideal. She is managing it but regrets so much not going last year when symptoms started to appear. She tells me over and over to preach this on my blog to all my readers so here it is. The most you have to lose is one hour of your day and a copay. Seems worth it to me.
Try this, you will be surprised at how it makes you feel, trust me. Just when you are about to text someone, put your phone done and call them. A real live human voice to human voice conversation. I have done this more lately and it makes me feel good. Yes, texting is easy and convenient but nothing, no matter the technology will ever take the place of a human voice. And yes, I still text all the time and can’t live with out it but actually calling someone once in a while just feels good:)
I am the fist to admit I don’t love to exercise, just not my thing. But I recognize the importance and one big goal is to exercise more in 2020. There is no doubt about the way it makes you feel, plus it’s so good for your muscles, joints and general well being, particularlyimportant as you get older. So this is a big one for me…and one I am going to work hard to achieve. A Peloton might be in my future:)
Never stop teaching your kids things, no matter the age. I still impart my “wisdom” (a relative word) onto my adult kids. Every now and then, they will admit that I was right or wonder how I knew that….love. how this cycle repeats itself, LOL. I remember doing that with my own parents:) This is a tough world to navigate and a different time for these young people, I think our pragmatic and insightful views on many things in life allows them a new perspective that they unfortunately do not have. One is never ever too old to learn or to teach.
I realized how happy flowers make me, I always have some kind of fresh flowers in my home.If its a $10 tulip bunch from Whole Foods or a backseats worth from the flower district, flowers make me genuinely happy, a quick and cheap fix for just about anything!
How in the world, when we have drones delivering groceries, little devices taking our orders, phones that recognize our faces, do we not have a temporary spray on hair highlighter/dye? Seriously!!! I get my hair highlighted a few times a year and in between it would be so nice to have a little spray (even if it lasts for a night) to give a little boost to my highlights. I mean, they can come out with blue, green and purple temporary hair spray at Halloween stores but not blonde or brunette. Think about it, this defies logic!!!!
That the world has turned into am ugly place, and there are a lot of unhappy people. It is up to us to find the beauty and peace. If you can’t find it, then create it. I created it in my home, when I come home, it is my refuge. A place to get away from all of that. Even when we lived in a tiny 1 bedroom apt in NYC, I did the same thing, created a refuge, a place to bring us peace and comfort. I feel doing this is more important than ever.
Stop and think about the people in your life that matter. And be sure they know how much they matter. Take the time to invest in those relationships and keep them healthy. Like a beautiful rose, they need a little maintenance and pruning….so worth the end result. Sometimes we get so busy with our lives that we forget to show gratitude to those that matter most. I know I will be doing a lot of of that going forward as I have an amazing circle of both friends and family as my “rock”. You know who you are……so thank you.
Work on that bucket list. Not sure about you, but I have all kinds of things I want to still do. I also am that kind of person that I don’t want to have any regrets. Never want to look back and wonder why I didn’t try this or that, visit this place, etc…I am getting a lot better at trying to make those things reality. Will I accomplish each and every one? Doubtful, I may never get to open that charming cafe/shop (along the lines of the one in It’s Complicated) or get a screenplay published, but I will hopefully get to visit all the places on my list, and maybe buy a farm and a beach house. If you can dream it you can do it…I believe that.
On the subject of kindness, you just don’t know how even the tiniest gesture can impact someone. I have had this happen on both the giving and receiving end and let me tell you it feels GOOD. Never underestimate the power of even the smallest act of kindness.
There were some very difficult, trying times for our family in 2019. There were times I wondered, why me? But I kept my head up, tried to find a silver lining and kept going. It wasn’t always easy. The sadness and fear was overwhelming at times. With a mom who has early dementia, I am treasuring and cherishing every minute we can spend together. Every conversation we have, means even more and when it’s a good one and I can make her laugh or reflect back on a fun memory, that makes my day. These times make you realize how precious every day of life is, a gift and one to to waste. I am trying to be more mindful of the time spent with those I love.
So bottom line for me, is take that trip. Have that extra bite of something yummy. Buy those shoes. Tell that person how much you love them. Give someone an extra hug. Tell someone how good they look. Life is short, so make it the best you possibly can and when you feel good you radiate goodness.

Love the calendar! Reminds us of the importance of celebrating every season, every holiday, every day, surrounded by the people and the things we love.
Spray on highlights! Such a good idea. If you do not already know, Oribe has an airbrush root touch up spray in a variety of hair shades to hide Grey’s between visits to the salon. I love mine! Love the calendar.
What a lovely message! I look forward to every post from Enchanted Home but this one truly struck home for me. My greatest gift has been that my 16 year-old yellow lab, Maggie, is still by my side…every day she inspires me. Keep up your great work…Happy New Year
What a lovely, thought provoking and inspiring blog today! You continue to amaze me…you are one beautiful person! I cannot find any better words than that, as I am such an admirer of yours. Happy New Year?❄️? once again you fill our Sunday morning with positive happy thoughts surrounded with blue and white . I love starting the week with your blog. May you and your family have a health happy New Year!
WOW- Thank is one beautifully designed calendar! It would look very nice on a kitchen counter, or at least in my small condo it would!
Happy New Year! The very best to you, Tina, and your staff in 2020!??
I am looking forward to your blog this year and all of your beautiful pictures and projects. You are a great inspiration to me and I wish you health and happiness for 2020.
I love the idea of beginning this new year with positivity and seeing lovely images. I am throwing my name in the hat as I see the cheerful desktop calendar. I, too, am a lover of blue and white and most especially a lover of golden retrievers ?!
“Remember to never lose hope . You never know what tomorrow may bring.”
Thank you for your wise message for the new year and decade. You make the world a better place in which to live.
Happy New Year! Just to let you know- there are several temporary “ hair fixes.” I like Joan Rivers the best. Several brands resemble eye shadow. I believe L’Oreal makes a spray color. Works like a charm!
Thank you Tina! I came across your website as I was home with hip issues and ended up having a hip replacement. It was so nice reading all of your posts! I love all of your pictures too! It is so nice to see all the lovers of blue and white! I always loved blue and white and your blog and website have inspired me. I wish you and your family a very happy, healthy New Year! Thank you for this latest post too!
I am taking your suggestions to heart and picking up the phone to hear a real voice on the end rather than texting to save time so much. What an informative blog you posted today! The calendar that you and Giddy Paperie have created is “enchanting” for sure. Best wishes for a glorious and healthy 2020, Tina.
Wow Tina…I loved reading your blog on the 1st day of 2020!
What a treasure & so much to think about in a good way! I think I’ll hang on to this one & keep it as my inspiration for the year!!!
Happy New Year !
Happy New Year Tina. There is some very good advice in this post & we are never too old to learn. My Mother too had dementia & I treasure all the happy times we spent together when it still mattered to her. Blessings for you & your Mother as you make this journey together. Last year I resolved to be kinder & I am carrying that over to 2020.
We just never know how much even a smile can mean to someone. Wishing you all the best in 2020.
Happy new year, great and thought provoking post..
I love your message and yes what about ziplocks for cereal? How does that not exist! And yes to small acts of kindness and calling people once in a while instead of our automatic reaction to text.
Love this! All the best to you and your beautiful family in 2020
This is a lovely post, thank you for sharing your experiences and reminding us of what is most important.
Picking up the phone in an age of text/emails is one small thing we can all do. Happy. New year to you!
Best wishes for you and your family and all at Enchanted Home for a Happy & Healthy New Year! Your posts are always so refreshing and joyful for your readers. Thank you for your insights whether it be decorating, cooking or making this world a better place. Here’s to a joyful 2020 and thank you!
Thank you for your 2020 post. Lots for all of us to think about. I was introduced to you by a friend the beginning of 2019 and never miss a day even if I have to read two at once. She gifted your calendar this Christmas to me and many of our friends. Love it. Also enjoy many of your wonderful items in my home. A tree with blue and white ornaments, charming Asian figures and ginger jars and fantastic Melamine dishes. I look forward to seeing what news ideas you have for 2020. Happy New Year!
Really thoughtful points or goals you listed inspire me to examine how I can make a real difference this coming year. I like to follow my daughter’s example of choosing one word as my personal guide for the year. This year it’s ORGANIZE. I’m an organized person, yet I’m always discovering hidden clutter, usually in my office/study supply cupboards and the file drawers. January was my month to clear out, sort, and organize those areas; now, I wonder whether every month is the time to do that.
Previous words of the year concerned developing and maintaining grace and dignity as I age, focusing on self-care which you describe in today’s post. Each of the words or goals become habit over the year, so it’s relatively easy to add a new word at the beginning of each January.
HAPPY New Year! I love the calendar, and have already bought it. Pick me so I can give it to my sister! Love your emails. I also bought a garden seat from you…a favorite.
Happy New Year, Tina! My husband also has Alzheimer’s/dementia and it has worsened this year. He spent Christmas in the hospital and now is in rehab for awhile. Hopefully, 2020 will be brighter for us all. I too love the cafe in It’s Complicated. It’s one of my favorite movies. I can so see you opening a similar place. That darling calendar would look great on my desk!
Wonderful post and thoughts on the year! Happy 2020 to you and your family and keep up your beautiful inspiring posts!! Thanks for the giveaway opportunity! Love the calendar!
Hello…your post this morning was so inspiring and I plan to follow many of your suggestions. With regard to your comment about “acts of kindness “, I received one last week from a fellow customer. My bill came to $43.07. I had no change and only a $100.00 bill (my Mad money). When I told the sales person I had no change the woman next to me said “oh, I have it”. I thanked her and declined her contribution but also thanked her for her act of kindness which we both agreed there should be more of. I was really touched. I always enjoy reading your blog and get lots of ideas from you. Happy New Year to you and yours, Best to you. A fellow Golden Retriever fan, miss my Copper and Barney.
Your beautiful words of inspiration will help remind us, as we look at the sweet calendar, that each of those ‘numbers’ are gifts of days that we should cherish.
Happy New Year to you and your lovely family!! I have a dear friend with dementia and we are too young. If I win the calendar I will give it to her. Thank you for your words of inspiration. xoxo

Beautiful thoughts, Tina! Love your positive look on life even when it looks dark and uncertain. We can see your home is a refuge and a place to create peace and beauty. You are lovely! Inside and out. Happy 2020!
Happy New Year! Wishing you happiness and good health in 2020. I like to teach by example. I tell my children, “No act of kindness is ever wasted”. Pass on for 2020. CHEERS! ?
Just love your blog and your site! My friend told me about it and I am, and always have been, a blue and white lover! Thank you for such a beautiful site and blog!
Dear Tina,
A beautiful 2020 to you, your sons and husband and all the workers who help you maintain an excellent running business. My blessings to your mother and thank you for your open courage in sharing her early dementia. I live in southern California and 2019 has been a tough year for us, too, but we are grateful for this new year and hopeful it will be a renewal of our optimism and faith in fairness and kindness.
Big hugs,
Rose Lee
Tina,
Thanks for that beautiful end of year reflection.. I am constantly trying to add beauty into my life with flowers, candles, music and good friends. One of my favorite ways to add beauty to my day is to visit your lovely blog and I am always inspired by your great designs, gorgeous pictures and wonderful observations to uplift daily life, after all, what we do with our days becomes what we did with our lives! Thanks for all of your inspiration!
I love reading your posts and seeing what beautiful things you have found. What first attracted me to your site is your love of all things blue and white. I have ALWAYS loved it, as well!
However, I just read your New Year’s Day post and found it particularly touching. You are quite the writer!! Keep up your God-given talents…you are blessed with so many! Happiest 2020! ????
You always have something worthwhile to impart, but today’s post was truly inspirational, just the pep talk I needed to put my head in the right place for the new year. As of 10/19 I am now cancer-free and ready to work on staying healthy, and aiding others in their fight. Thank you for kickstarting my resolve!
I love this post. It made me reflect on 2019 and things I want to do different in 2020. Thank you for the kind words and for me the encouragement and hope in the future. The calendar is lovely. Happy New Year!
Happy New Year Tina
Love love your reflection of 2019. I believe 2019 was a transition year for me. Had some health issues which I needed to finally get a handle on I turned 65 last year which still boggles my mind though I don’t feel it.
I’m starting to understand the importance of saying No and not always trying to please everyone. It can’t be done and still have your sanity. Self care is going to be priority for me this year. If you don’t take care of your self you’ll be no good in caring for others.
I lost my Mother to Alzheimer’s three years ago and know the importance of patience and spending time with her. I cherish the time we spent together weather she knew it or not. She was still my Mom but she was different at the end. It was okay.
I loved what you said also about bring beauty and peace into your home. I believe that so much and it will be another priority.
But most of all to be a nicer, more grateful, gentler person in a world that is gotten more mean and self absorbed.
God bless you in 2020. Let the new “roaring 20’s” begin. Wow!
Happy new year! Thank you Tina for an amazing year of your life blogged, your contests, other readers photos, and seven on Sunday. I look forward to reading your blog. And Amen to today’s words of wisdom. Wishing you
peace, love and joy this new year.
Warm regards.
Have already gifted the calendar I ordered for myself, so I am in need of another. I plan to order one now, and would gift it if I happened to win one. Love seeing all of the beauty you create, Tina! Blessings to you and your family (both at home and at work).

Such a fabulous post!!! Have you read the book, Younger Next Year? It may help jumpstart you into an exercise program. Seems like it would fit your life’s vision. Looking forward to more great posts from you. Happy New Year!
Happy Mew Year! I recently purchased a FitBit HR and it inspires me to get up and get out to walk….. amazing …… walking gives me a chance to “check in” with others in the neighborhood but it also challenges me to get those 10,000 steps in and burn some calories in the process… only take it off when sleeping but a great way to achieve a goal and enjoy your surroundings in the process.
A happy New Year to you and yours. How I love and look forward to your Enchanted Home blog each day! Thank you for your genuine wisdom, encouragement and inspiration.
So glad that my sister Julia Brankovic led me to your Blog and beautiful website! I’ve ordered this calendar but would love to win one for her!
Thank you for adding beauty in all things blue and white! You will make my New Year prettier!
Thank you
Carrie

Happy New Year! Thank you very much for your blog, I look forward to each of your posts. I love blue and white porcelains and have enjoyed each purchase from your shop. The trellis Provence Planters are gorgeous and have dressed up our new home’s entry perfectly! I very much appreciate your wonderful taste and style and love your shop. Best wishes for 2020
Hi Tina,
I love your post! It’s so true what you say to be more in the moment with those you love, and friends.
Wishing you a wonderful 2020!
Would love to win the calendar.
Lucy
Such beautiful words, Tina, with an even lovelier sentiment. I’m sorry to hear about you Mother’s challenges. I hope that she has wonderful doctors that can be of great help to her along the way. May 2020 be one of your best years yet! xx
What a great post — one that I will refer to often to inspire me to stay the course! Thank you so much for being a true bright spot in my day. I appreciate all the time and energy you put into bringing us so much inspiration and beauty. Happy New Year!
Happy New Year to you and yours! So much to look forward to and to do in the New Year. A truly refreshing time. Blue and White…..AND Golden Retriever lovers? They have it all! It’s a beautiful calendar.
Water colors are so … enchanting! (Good word!) Many years ago I took a water color class and liked every peaceful moment. I’ve not gone back to it (on MY bucket list) but I surely enjoy them. I even have a brass easel like the one you show the calendar on. I would like to win the calendar set. Thank you.
Great job Tina!! Love your 2019 takeaways. Your blog makes me happy, I have learned so much from you. You have taught me the beauty of fresh flowers. They are such a stress relief! I too have been able to push through the “why me” and have tried to find my purpose. Thank you for ALL of your hard work!!
Happy New Year
I am so thrilled that the calendars are back in stock!
I bought one for me and one for a friend as Christmas gifts and ended up having to give both away.
Both recipients were thrilled but I was sad to not own one myself!
Thank you so much for such lovely blue and white themed calendar that we can enjoy all year long!
Looking forward to 2020 and all that it has to offer!
Cheers to you and your family for the new year. I ordered a few of the ginger jar ornaments and adore them! I am looking forward to using them next Christmas.
Tina, this was a good post! It’s always good to have reminders of the important things in our lives, and to remember to practice kindness. Enjoy the time with your mother, and cherish all the good memories. Happy New Year!
Happy New Year Tina! Your post made me cry, as I was sitting here feeling sorry for myself. You truly have a gift with your words of wisdom. So I am going to focus on that and try not to let my personal problems dictate all that I have to give to this world, and get up and do something about it!! I was lucky enough to have my 5 and 9 year old grandsons want to see the New Year in with me, of course they fell asleep but I woke them up at midnight to watch the ball drop in Times Square! What sweet little faces saying Happy New Year, Gigi!! What could be a better way to start 2020 than that?! So, I am blessed, and will remind myself of that every day! Thank you for all of your beautiful posts, Tina. You are such an inspiration. Blessings to you and your family.
Love, Jeannette

Thank you for the inspirations and Joy you have been giving us through your beautiful blogs? more power in 2020
Thanks for your inspiring message today. I love this new calendar!
Beautiful thoughts to begin a new year! Reflecting how I feel but didn’t put into words. Thanks and all the best to you and yours for 2020!
The new 2020 calendar is beautiful!
I would love it in my blue kitchen!
Happy 2020
Happy 2020!

Dear Tina,
A beautiful 2020 to you, your sons and husband and all the workers who help you maintain an excellent running business.
Love your tender thoughts for the New Year,
Thank you, Tina. Great advice about things that we should be mindful of as we enter this next decade. The calendar is exquisite!
Beautiful post! Thank you. May the new year bless you and your family!
Great advice , thank you . I love your blog ,
You always have something worthwhile to impart, but today’s post was truly inspirational, just the pep talk I needed to put my head in the right place for the new year.
Thanks for another uplifting post.
This calendar is a perfect reflection of The Enchanted Home!
You had me at blue and white, but then you mentioned golden retrievers. You are speaking my language. Do you two ladies have room for one more friend?
Wishing you

Happy new year everyone!
Dear Tina,
A happy New Year to you and yours. How I love and look forward to your Enchanted Home blog each day! Thank you for your genuine wisdom, encouragement and inspiration.

Happy New Year

I just found your site and I will be checking back often. I’m a new collector of blue and white ceramics, so your calendar is perfect for me!
Loving this post and the calendar! Such a unique way to add a little (more) chinoiserie to a home!
