Hoping to visit my parents for a few days and maybe squeeze a few days in at PB  so hopefully this will post on time. So nice for summer to be here and hard to believe Memorial Day is already behind us. We have been having some splendid weather and between that and things starting to feel “semi normal” again, its like a breath of fresh summer air. I want to start checking things off my summer bucket list (especially to make up for last summer)!

Because before we know it, we will start seeing back to school supplies and reminders that the holidays are only x amount of days away:) I say let’s take this slow and savor and enjoy summer! Particularly after the year we have all had.  Onward we go to this Sunday’s post-

1 NEW SITE COMING ALONG! So we have had a new website in the works for a few months, its no easy task and there is a lot of content/product so its taken a bit longer than we previously had expected. That said, it will be so worth the wait. I always add a few months to whatever promised delivery date is given (learned the hard way)!

It will have a similar look but a fresher/cleaner vibe but the real difference will be the functionality. We are well aware that our current site is now outdated, and does not have all the functionality that we would like. Technology changes incredibly fast and you need to keep up!

Many companies launch new sites every few years, so we are overdue. With luck we will launch this new site in about a month. But here are a few sneak peeks-

One thing I really like is the product pages are much larger, I feel this is a big plus!

2 LEMON POTATOES  When I featured these on Instagram so many emailed me about it. Its so good that some things bear repeating. This recipe is tried and true, delicious, super flavorful and relatively healthy recipes which happen to go so well with chicken, seafood, steak or nothing else at all!

Lemon potatoes

  • ½ cup chicken broth or water
  • ½ cup olive oil
  • ½ cup freshly squeezed lemon juice (from 3 to 4 large lemons)
  • 1 tablespoon kosher salt
  • 3 pounds large Yukon Gold potatoes (about 6), peeled then halved lengthwise and crosswise (this time I used small new potatoes and they worked out great and cut down cooking time)
  • 1 tablespoon dried oregano (I tend to use a little more)
  • Flaky salt and black pepper, for serving
  1. Heat the oven to 450 degrees. On a rimmed sheet pan, combine the chicken broth, olive oil, lemon juice and kosher salt. Toss the potatoes in the liquid to coat, then arrange the potatoes in an even layer, cut-sides down. Sprinkle the oregano over the potatoes, if using.
  2. Roast the potatoes, flipping halfway through, until fork-tender, dark brown and crispy on top, 55 to 60 minutes. (If the potatoes are cooked through but not as crispy as you’d like, run them under the broiler for a few minutes.) Sprinkle with flaky salt and black pepper as desired.

3 INSTAGRAMS OF INTEREST What a pretty and fresh roundup, just a little bit of this and a tad of that…….

4 PEONY HEAVEN! I had the good fortune as I do every June to visit a farm at the end of Long Island and brought home the best souvenir of all, a bucket of just picked peonies. There is no flower quite as beautiful as the almighty peony.

If only I could figure out a way to get them to last longer! So needless to say I had loads of fun trying different containers and placing them all around the house. Yes, I mildly obsessed. OK, maybe a little more than mildly. I keep mine in the fridge at night and have had them for 9 days and counting, which is a lifetime in the peony world:)

5 A BOOK AS GOOD AS A MINI VIRTUAL VACATION! Got this last week and let me tell you..this is AMAZING. As in “add it to cart immediately” kind of amazing. Next best thing to getting on a plane to beautiful Provence is getting lost in this fabulous new coffee table book by Shana Varvel, based upon their painstaking labor of love restoration of a most beautiful and charming Provencal estate.

The first section features their storybook home in Provence and is by far my favorite part of the book:) It is from front to back a feast for every one of your senses! You can buy on Amazon, or any bookstore. Click here to see on Amazon.

6 VICTORIA HAGAN’S GORGEOUS NANTUCKET HOME. This to me,  is the very definition of classic beach house, like my other favorite beach house from It’s Complicated. Understated, elegant, inviting and classic. Designer Victoria Hagan’s Nantucket home is a beauty! Just love every inch of how it’s done especially that gorgeous living room! 7 SUNDAYS SURVEY This is a question to all my customers regarding the holidays. Yes, crazy as it sounds we are in full holiday planning mode. Our new gift wrap designs are well underway and we have our first catch or ornaments in production. Which leads me to my question today….

Thinking of adding a small special collection of ginger jars/balls, in the red/white and green/white (in addition to the blue/white which is the main part of our collection). So would love your opinion if you don’t mind! Your input always gives me great guidance.

On a sidenote will bringing back all of our best selling blue and white ornaments (ginger jars, pagodas and balls), all the Staffordshire dog ornaments and adding a few new ones:) We have our first batch of ornateness already in production and will get our first shipment in August.

Love starting my Sunday morning with your beautiful Sunday post. Peonies are also my favorite flower they were the flower we used for our wedding and will always hold a special place in my heart.
how exciting for your new website, yes you’re right technology changes so fast!
I hope you will add the red and green ornaments, I love the blue and white and always do a blue and white tree in our family room but for my living room I still like traditional red and green.

I’m really looking forward to your new website – looks like it will be amazing! I’m wondering if you will have a section for all of your wonderful recipes. I would love to be able to access them all in one place.

Love Victoria Hagan’s style, keeping the same/similar color palette from room to room. Reminds me of the beach house interiors from ‘Something’s Gotta Give’. I like to mix (good-quality) high/low in decorating, so when VH collaborated with Target, I snapped up the last of her wonderful faux wood framed circle mirrors w/ raised dots (would have preferred to have two) and a pair of her botanical silk ‘scarf’ pillows. (The biggest problem with Target’s collaborations is that unless you are at your computer at 12:01 am the Sunday morning of the launch, there is nothing left!) Also love the absence of any ‘Welcome to the Beach’ or ‘Life’s a Beach’, etc pillows or signage.

Barclay Butera’s beach house (I think featured in his first book) was once owned by Bette Davis – lots of blue & white, and even Chinese ginger jars!

Your pretty peony arrangements are a good reminder to order Peony’s Envy flower farm Fall Catalog. Fields and cutting gardens are closed for the season. Adding a peony cutting garden on our property is on my bucket list, and since most plants are shipped bare root, the sooner it gets planted the better!

So excited for your new website. Maybe add a way to easily add photos in your comment sections. Would be fun with us all to share. I am in total agreement about adding a section for your incredible recipes. They never fail. Also make them easy to print. This has been a challenge.
Love the idea of new red/white and green/white ornaments. I have only found most green and white is too light green for me. I love changing up accent colors with my blue and white, but I tend to go darker. I LOVE a deep emerald green with my blue and white. So elegant.

Remove the leaves to allow Peonies to get more water and they will last longer. Add greenery separately

Love all the kitchen photos! Beautiful and full of wonderful ideas! Technology changes constantly and quite an effort to keep up. I agree with the others – add section to include recipes and easy print. Continue with photos as always nice to see ways the products are utilized. And, continue the comment section as love to read other’s suggestions, experiences, thoughts. Great tidbits of info on peonies today. Getting some from my best friend’s mom who grows many varieties. I can’t wait to add to my landscape! Always look forward to Sunday blog!
