Hope all is well. We are finally enjoying some nice spring weather, still needs to warm up a bit but we are definitely getting there. Enjoyed a nice weekend with 2 dinners with friends, feels really nice  to be going out and that it’s starting to feel pretty normal.

Of course there is almost some guilt felt knowing of the immense suffering going on simultaneously in Ukraine. Hard to get it out of your mind once you have seen the atrocities. I find myself watching much less news as it was weighing so heavily on me but still stay informed. Our world is a perilous place right now. All we can do is donate and pray, for this horrific war to end soon. OK, onwards to happier subjects……

1 SPRING CHEER AROUND MY HOME! Been adding spring-y vibes to the house and slowly adding lightness and blossoms, both fresh and faux of a little spring reset. I love this fresh floral arrangement I made in our French wire basket, wish I could freeze dry it then started experimenting a little for Easter table ideas!

I had fun playing with our incredible new Hydrangea Garden melamine (click here, scroll down)  so love it! Then added our new pale blue  bamboo planters with fresh flowers it made for a dreamy table (planters will be part of our sale on Tues)

2 NEW PRODUCTS COMING SOON! Pink and green have most definitely been on my radar lately. We do really well with these colors so adding some new porcelains in this color combo was called for. So fresh for spring and summer! These beauties are all in production and we hope to have them sometime later May/early June. So stay tuned…..

Everyone loved this new charger we have been working on, got samples back, needless to say i am in love! Tweaking it ever so slightly but it’s a winner and going into production. With luck hope to have it here mid June.

3 INSTAGRAMS OF INTEREST Such a pretty mix of inspiration this weekend, never a shortage of these to share and always fun to choose my weekly faves…..

4 NEW BEAUTY PRODUCT ALERT! So I started using this product from Paula’s Choice and must say I really like it. I hear and read a lot about this consistently so it must be good. I do think my skin is looking quiet good/firmer and I think its a combination of this product and just paying more attention to my skin in general. This is my first foray into anything with Retinol and so far I really like it (been about a month) Click here to get more info

5 AMAZING CHICKEN PICATTA  Talk about major flavor! The other day wanted to try something new and this was an instant hit! You can serve with pasta, rice, potato or a big salad. I made simple wedge potatoes and a small salad. This is loaded with flavor and so so good, best part its quite easy! I pounded my chicken very very thin. A definite keeper. I made extra and the next day it was even better, having marinated overnight. This recipe is from Giada de Lauentiis

  1. Season chicken with salt and pepper. Dredge chicken in flour and shake off excess.
  2. In a large skillet over medium high heat, melt 2 tablespoons of butter with 3 tablespoons olive oil. When butter and oil start to sizzle, add 2 pieces of chicken and cook for 3 minutes. When chicken is browned, flip and cook other side for 3 minutes. Remove and transfer to plate. Melt 2 more tablespoons butter and add another 2 tablespoons olive oil. When butter and oil start to sizzle, add the other 2 pieces of chicken and brown both sides in same manner. Remove pan from heat and add chicken to the plate.
  3. Into the pan add the lemon juice, stock and capers. Return to stove and bring to boil, scraping up brown bits from the pan for extra flavor. Check for seasoning. Return all the chicken to the pan and simmer for 5 minutes. Remove chicken to platter. Add remaining 2 tablespoons butter to sauce and whisk vigorously. Pour sauce over chicken and garnish with parsley.

6 A WORD TO THE WISE With technology and all the amazing advances also comes the need to be super vigilant and always aware. This is not the first time I heard of such a story. My friends daughter (in college) got some kind of notice sent to her phone that she was being tracked via an air tag for the last 50 minutes as she was reading her text heading back to her college dorm. The many tracking devices which are a Godsend for people who misplace phones, keys, laptops, etc….also serve as a potentially dangerous device as well.

She thinks, while she had been at a bar near her school in Boston one night after class,  that someone put one on her backpack, purse, and was able to track where she went. These can be super dangerous as they could also serve as a way for anyone to know not only where you are/are going but where you live. Just something to make everyone think about and discuss particularly with our younger adults (those who think they have it all figured out)! Here is an interesting article which sheds light on this, click here.

7  SUNDAY’S SURVEY Curious how many of you regularly exercise? I have to admit I really don’t enjoy it, unless I can count horsetrading and tennis:) And because of my knee I cannot do either right now!  I used to never have to worry about exercising or thinking much about what I eat but then age catches up with you and suddenly, you see “changes”.

I know I need/should start exercising more regularly, beyond the physical benefits there are many mental benefits too and I know from when I have done it in the past, there is no question it does make you feel so good. I am trying to slowly get back into it, I know the beginning is always the hardest. Curious where you fall on the exercise spectrum?

I do get out and walk daily and I’m using my rebounder which I love. I recently pulled back out Callanetics. I did find the exact VHS tapes from the 80s on DVD on Amazon. Talk about a blast from the past. Boy does it work. Chicken dish looks tasty😊🌺

Just had two knee replacement surgeries in the last 7 months. Still going to pt which I count as exercise. My recumbent bike came yesterday so I’ll be doing that every day to keep my knees moving. Need to build up my quads. Amazing how much muscle you lose from surgery.

Does stretching to reach “hidden chocolate” in the pantry count… I do lots of steps…slower & slower but count myself fortunate I “should still be able” to exercise…

I got my melamine on Friday and LOVE it! and the new pink and green porcelains and chargers are beautiful.

I do pilates twice a week and a spin class one day. started this routine a year ago, never felt better.

I keep hearing about Paula’s choice too, you have convinced me, I am going to try it!

Tina, I love anything piccata style! Thanks for another good recipe. I have a bad knee the results of a significant ski injury. However, I find if I don’t exercise, it (and the rest of my body) actually hurts more. I love the saying, if you rest, you rust. The human body is the only machine that if you don’t use it, it breaks down quickly. And the older you get, the worse it gets. I can’t run anymore but faithfully do Pilates 3 days a week and power walk or do some other kind of cardio on other days. Trust me, think of exercise as a positive part of life because bodies really change after 60+. Love, love, love those chargers too!

I’m back to hitting the rowing machine, which is painful but a necessary evil. At least I can work out in the privacy of my own home, watch a documentary or series and slowly work my way back to a respectable pace.
The tracking device story is scary, especially when it involves personal safety. Also a good idea to check the inside of your wheel wells for devices – gangs in NJ have been marking luxury cars this way, following the owners home from the mall or restaurants and then coming back to either a) try to steal the car in the dead of night or b) try to break in – which they can easily do if the garage door opener is readily available!
We’re back onto a Mediterranean diet, so thank-you for this recipe, Tina!
Have a great week, all!

Re exercise—google GROW YOUNG FITNESS. It’s a very organized program that you customize for yourself.
Deron is your personal trainer. You choose your exercise and work in the privacy of your own home at your own pace.
I can’t say enough about it. It’s one of the best programs ever, my opinion.

I used to be a gym rat. I even taught aerobics for a spell. Now that I’m 60, I’m so OVER the gym scene. So, I am a dedicated walker. It clears my head, gives me more energy and lets me see flowers and deer and all kinds of wonderful sights. I am not what I once was, but I’m happier than ever.

The new chargers are beautiful. Those trackers scare me – especially when it involves young girls. I also cringe when I see young girls walking and absorbed in their phones totally unaware of their surroundings.

The hydrangea melamine dishes are lovely. Looking forward to using them for an alfresco dinner party. Are they dishwasher safe? I’m thinking that the chargers are not? Others that I have, need to be hand washed.
I’m grateful to be able to celebrate Easter with family and needing this busy week to keep preoccupied. I pray the war in Ukraine ends soon and that news about COVID virus will end too. It is all too much some days. My 60 year old body says I need to exercise more; and my chiropractor says “ never stop stretching!” Thank you for the tracking device was info-sharing it. Happy blessed Easter all.

The pink and green porcelain is beautiful! Such pretty pastels. But what captured my heart this Sunday were the two Instagrams of the six puppies on the stairs and the two Cavalier King Charles Spaniels. Adorable. Happy Easter to all.
