Good Sunday morning to you. We were supposed to be in Palmetto Bluff this weekend and for no reason our flight was canceled, the flight they rebooked us on was much later and a long connection via Atlanta…NO THANKS. I wasn’t quite in the mood to trade my 2 hour flight for a 6.5 hour ordeal. So we did a zoom meeting which was not quite the same but certain decisions needed to be made right away as we are in the home stretch. Flying sure isn’t what it used to be!   Onward to this weekend’s post…..

1 MY GARDEN! Started my garden this year and though I pulled my back in overdoing it, it was such fun and super therapeutic. I love being in a garden and getting to watch things come to life. If you remember last year, I was bragging about my tomatoes when in one fell swoop, one night the deer came and literally demolished them. I was upset for days.

I am going to have a fence put here but am going to focus more planting in the second garden which is already fenced in. We just prepared the beds so we are good to go. I am determined to have lots of tomatoes, herbs, lettuce, cucumbers, zucchini etc….to enjoy (and not the deer)!

Love our new watering cans (click here and scroll down)  The matching caddy and tools will be here in 3 weeks!

And was so excited to pick my first peonies of this earns and bought them inside to add to my favorite small double happiness vase!

This vase is a perfect vase for weekly flowers or garden cuttings (click here)

2 A BOOK YOU MUST ADD TO YOUR COLLECTION I was so excited about the debut of this book. A special friend sent this to me along with the coziest blanket for Mother’s Day…..the best gift!! She knows the key to my heart:) I set a “date” with the book and blanket to sit down uninterrupted and had such fun going through it to my hearts content.

If you follow and admire the truly incredible artistry of Natasja Sadi of Cake Atelier Amsterdam, then no doubt you probably have ordered this. But for anyone who hasn’t, you must get this book. She is a true unrivaled master at both flower arranging but her sugar skills are off the charts. To be believed, every page just takes your breath away. I really have enjoyed reading about her backstory and find it incredibly inspiring. Great gift idea too….click here to order this incredible book

A few peeks inside-

4 A MUST HAVE SUMMER HANDBAG If you are looking for one gorgeous bag to carry this summer, look no further than the magnificent line of MME Mink. This bag combines all my favorite elements, leather with rattan, bamboo and the darkling bow front closure. So chic! Offered in different colors, love that it has a crossbody strap too. Her entire line is so incredibly stylish and takes you to a beautiful fairytale world….really!

5 AN ANXIOUS NATION The word anxiety has become a household word like never before. I don’t know if I know of anyone who doesn’t suffer from it in some way or another. I am highly anxious but work naturally (unmedicated) at trying to keep it controlled which I am getting better at doing. I inherited the “worry gene” from my beloved mom.  So found this interesting, enlightening and a bit frightening. Some of the statistics regarding the young people totally shocked me. Sometimes being well informed means having to listen to things that are hard to hear. Available on Amazon Prime.

6 MY FAVORITE SNACK OF ALL TIME If I am hungry and not wanting to make an entire meal, my bruschetta is always my go to. First of all, it is so easy and unbelievably delicious! The key is ripe tomatoes and the right bread, crispy outside, chewy on the inside.  I promise you, this never ever disappoints!

  • 1 carton Compari tomatoes (or something comparable) chopped small
  • 1 large clusters of fresh basil chopped fine
  • 1/4 cup onion diced small
  • Sea salt
  • Pepper
  • Olive oil
  • Balsamic Vinegar
  • 1 chopped garlic (very fine and this is optional)
  • shaved parmigiana shavings (optional but I love this addition)
  • Balsamic glaze reduction

Mix tomatoes, basil (reserve 2 TBSP of basil) with salt, pepper olive oil and a dash of the vinegar. Mix gently and season to taste. Slide your bread into about 1/2″ thick slices drizzle with olive oil, place on baking sheet in heated oven (about 350) for about 5-7 minutes until just turning golden. Don’t worry if slightly overcooked as the moisture from the tomatoes softens the bread. Immediately generously spoon over the tomato mixture onto the bread spring a little basil over it, add some parmigiana slavnigs (options) and drizzle the balsamic reduction over it. Voila! Watch how quickly they are devoured!

7 SUNDAY’S SURVEY A simple question and don’t worry its anonymous:) When you go to a market, do you religiously put your cart back or do you leave it somewhere safe int he parking lot? I admit I used to be about 50/50, half the time would put it back but half the time leave it somewhere safe that it would not be in the way. But in recent years, I always put the cart back. I look at the gut manning the parking lot realizing that its pretty backbreaking work and just feel like it only takes a few seconds for me to do “the right thing”.

The other day I was leaving a market and a guy, after unloading his cart, literally just let the cart go, meandering down the parking lot and sure enough hit a car pretty hard. Enough to make a dent. He saw it happen and got right back into his car and drove away. I didn’t want to confront him but I did take his license plate and put a note on the persons car because I felt like it was the right thing to do and what they did with that info is up to them. Thoughts?

And that is a wrap for this Sunday. Hope you enjoyed my post. Always fun putting these together. Don’t forget last day of our 30% off our entire melamine collection. Al fresco dining season is here!!

Yy for your wonderful informative post.
I too love all these ingredients in my brushetta.
In my humble opinion, the anxiety problem originates from capitalism and the pressure to succeed and make lots of money. If you don’t you won’t live the life you want. Add to this, no healthcare, (can’t afford it) and guns. Countries like Sweden don’t have the same anxiety problems, and they have 20 hours of dark in the winter!

such a great Sunday post I love the glimpses of your garden, and those peonies are amazing!

I am craving that bruschetta. It looks delicious and I just ordered the box so thank you for the recommendation. Every recommendation you have made has been spot on.

Love the watering can – very elegant & functional
Thank you for the stunning pictures of your garden- very inspirational!

Isn’t it funny how times and attitudes change? In my area, I remember a time when it was frowned upon to put your cart (we called it a buggy) away or to throw your trash in the bin. I remember very clearly a custodian at a baseball game saying to me when I was a girl not to leave my peanut shells and drink cup in the stands because “cleaning this up gives me a job and I want to keep it!” Back then, no one put their carts away or trash in the bin because this was the attitude of the day. Maybe it was a carryover from the Depression and the New Deal programs? But now, it’s the opposite attitude: lean businesses understaffing and over-tired employees. Now, I always put my buggy/cart away and the trash in the bin.

Another excellent post as usual. Love the handbags! Unfortunately, we are living in an anxiety driven world. Our children are being exposed to things at inappropriate ages, often due to circumstances beyond our control. They’re having to grow up to fast and NOT allowed to just be kids and have fun. Being exposed to electronics, social media and inappropriate content, weather it be television or movies should not be allowed until it’s appropriate for their age group. Then, extreme safety precautions should be taken to protect our children. We can’t protect our children from everything in this world we live in, but we can make sure that our children are safe, secure and as protected as possible from things we do have control of. If you shop around for your child, you will find age appropriate toys that will allow your child to have Montessori learning experiences without having access to the internet and it keeps them safe while learning.

Your survey question tickled me as this is my pet peeve…well, one of dozens, but I digress. I even reorganize the stall that collects the baskets if they are not properly put in place. Such a simple task. I don’t understand the lack of consideration. You did the right thing, Tina. I work very hard not to straighten pictures in other people’s homes (wink). This era of anxiety will pass. Promise. Be hopeful. Have a great week.

I always return the carts to the cart rack. It all counts as steps and exercise and it is the right thing to do.

The reason the airlines are limiting flights is thanks to our fuel supply being restricted. It impacts everything in our lives. The answer to anxiety is trusting in Jesus Christ who gives peace like nothing the world can give. xoxo
