Hello, it’s a cold rainy morning here in NY.  As we all start to prepare for the first of the two big holidays during the winter months, Thanksgiving, I know many hostesses are taking stock of their “inventory” to start planning out their table and how they will entertain on this all important holiday of giving thanks.

We usually host and it’s always an intimate affair. Normally we are 7-12 people which if you ask me is just perfect. I absolutely love Thanksgiving because it’s a day that solely centers on togetherness, family, quality time and a day for us all to slow down and enjoy each other with no outside “noise” and that includes presents:)

I love setting a holiday table and this year I am inspired by nature, wanting to bring in the outdoors a bit with greenery, pine cones, acorns, a bit of rustic elegance. I thought I would share with you some ideas for setting a table and how my process works. It is often a happy mess before a pretty table is set:)

We will sit in the dining room and always will have a fire going and of course a candle burning.  Candles set a mood, smell so wonderful and that subtle flickering light just adds to the ambiance. And let’s not forget piping in some soft holiday music,  a must!

I will start with simple white linen place mats and “build” from there. I gather all of my ingredients for the table and start experimenting. I take away, add, and edit until I have it just right. In this case I am using my silver square chargers, my beautiful very holiday appropriate Woodland china from Spode and my beautiful Vagabond shed antler flatware.

Once I decide which plates I am using, I add my glassware. I like to mix, here are some William Yeoward wine glasses with the beautiful etched water goblets from Anthropologie which look like a million bucks (click here to see) . They mix beautifully with just about any pattern, FYI.

This year am over the moon with this new style fall monogrammed napkin..how gorgeous are these! Just smitten with them and they make a beautiful addition to the layering process of creating my table.

I am big on going out and cutting whatever might be in season, so this year I am going out to the yard and will be cutting snippets of boxwood, evergreen and gathered pine cones and acorns. Some people look at trees and admire the nature, I look at trees and start brainstorming about my table and. mantles:)

The mini pine cones were bought at Michaels Arts and Crafts stores*unless you are lucky enough to have them in your yard, if so go to town! I normally don’t do this however until a few days before Thanksgiving to be sure they don’t dry out. Then I start to play with plates….

The battle of the plates:)

Some experimentation

And this is where I have a lot of fun,  I experimented and though I love the full on effect of the greens bordering the entire plate which lets face it makes one beautiful picture

Then I added the acorn mint julep with greens and a pinecone which I really loved the effect of-

But to be practical,  I didn’t want my family to feel like they have to have a minor in plant biology to artfully figure how to eat amidst a mini forest:) I  decided on the four corners as it’s more practical and shows off the beauty of the charger, added my pine cones and voila!

I love my acorn mint juleps filled with greens and pinecones and will be placing one at every setting this year

You can never have too many beautiful serving pieces and I will be having some new additions to my table this year like this fabulous hammered silver moose wine bucket-

Then I will be adding tall simple glass hurricanes some greenery and pine cones (I buy a big box of huge sugar cones every holiday). They are by far one of the best decorating objects for tables, mantels, etc….both for Thanksgiving and Christmas.

The big addition to this years table will be my newly sourced mini silver table lamps, never thought I could so fall in love with a lamp! I have always admired these, love how elegant small lamps look on tables at parties, weddings, etc…then when I went to the Polo Bar in NYC, there they were again!  These look so beautiful by a table setting all lit up, they add such elegance and ambiance.

So I set out on a mission and luckily found them via one of my manufacturers. They are offered in my current flash sale and they have been an instant hit! I will be placing one at every table setting. Here is a dress rehearsal picture-

And as all the elements have come together, I hope to create my dream Thanksgiving table, at least for this year:) The beauty about doing it ahead of time is that you get to enjoy it for weeks not days, and honestly I would rather walk past this set table every day then a bare table, it really puts you in the holiday spirit! You can be sure I will share the finished product with you. next week.

In case this has you inspired to begin your own table setting journey I am offering a giveaway and a sale on all silver.

A brand new arrival how fabulous are these hammered hexagon deer head ice buckets in two sizes!

I love putting a acorn mint julep at each place setting filled with fresh greens and pinecones or even filled with a tight cluster of flowers in a powder or guest room

Two of these gorgeous heavy candelabras grace my own table…they are elegance personified

Love this planter which I use as a beverage holder, it looks stunning with 3-4 bottles of wine or champagne on ice

You can never have too many serving pieces and my serving pieces are among the prettiest out there and very reasonably priced

One of my most favorite pieces of my silver collection ever, this very large impressive domed platter reminds me of things you just don’t see anymore…super elegant for any Thanksgiving table

This stunning shell encrusted tray is a beauty and perfect for serving a round of drinks on!

What table doesn’t  look more beautiful with chargers! They really elevate a table setting like few things can.

Love my Chippendale inspired serving bowls above in three sizes, great for breads, rolls, nuts, etc….they look like a million dollars but are so reasonable and so beautiful.

Ahh,  this has me so looking forward to Thanksgiving and getting to work setting my table. Not to mention indulging in what is to me, one of the best meals of the year where all diets are left at the door. I always look forward to Thanksgiving and hope this post maybe gave you a few ideas to jump start your own holiday table.

Only thing that will be different this year and definitely hard, is Teddy not being with us. He so loved all the leftovers and we always gave him a bowl of a little of everything when we sat down to indulge, it was his favorite meal of the year too:) He will really be missed this year.

Thanks for stopping in, until next time!

Love the julep cups. Just ordered a few for gifts to be used in master bath vanities for holding brushes.

Lucky people indeed who get to enjoy Thanksgiving at your home. Simply beautiful. Wishing you a wonderful Thanksgiving with lots of love and joy.

Absolutely love the tall embossed silver pitcher. Would use it to fill water goblets at my Christmas dinner table. Placed an order yesterday! Love silver as decor!

Such a gorgeous assortment of silver! I just love the small tabletop lamps and could see many different uses for them 🙂

I love all the mint julep cups! I would use one on my buffet filled with roses or mums and next to other silver pieces. I really like the look of one of the minis next to each place setting filled with pine cones and greenery!

I love what I ordered but crushing on the large flared planter. I would of course have some delicious wine in it or some lovely white poinsettias in the middle of my large round table. Too many ways to enjoy that beauty.

I’m loving all of the silver trays. I put them in bathrooms to display my perfumes and candles on them!!

I love, love, love your square chargers and silver trays! And also the domed platter. OMG. Fabulous merchandise, beautiful blog. Thank you.

Adore the moose wine bucket/cooler. It would also look lovely filled with greenery for a centerpiece

Gorgeous placesetting inspiration, Tina! I love bringing in the natural elements from our woodsy lot as well. This year will be very different since we’ll be celebrating Thanksgiving in the desert. It will be wonderful to be with my parents since we don’t typically get to be together on holidays. My mom’s tablescapes are legendary and her talents have been on display at more weddings than I can say–and she decorates from the ceiling to the floor! Wishing you an extra special week of holiday-prep and a reminder that you are lovely just as you are. xox

Love the silver beverage tub! Would love using it for floral arrangements, as well as for drinks.

So hard to choose one thing I like….but thinking the mini hurricane lamps have my eye at the moment!!

We are doing a small Thanksgiving dinner at my house with my daughter, sister, her husband and my niece. I always set a beautiful table, as I have all the gorgeous silver platters and bowls, serving pieces, etc. For Christmas this year my daughter and I are doing something totally different–we are going to New Orleans to see White Christmas at the Saenger Theater on Christmas Eve, having a great Christmas Eve dinner and spending the night at The Roosevelt Hotel and having Christmas Brunch at The Roosevelt before coming home. Christmas is not the same for us since my husband passed away from cancer 5 years ago in December right before Christmas. We have season tickets to Broadway in New Orleans, and since it is only a two hour drive from Mobile, we decided to make it a New Orleans Christmas this year.

The five-branch silver candlelabra are always my favorite items whenever you show them. They make such a gorgeous statement on large dining room tables. They are especially stunning when the table is covered with hors d’oeuvres at a cocktail buffet. Hope Santa is reading ths…

The mint julep cuos and the ice buckets are my favorites. Beautiful table. Working on mine today.

Love the smaller of the square pierced silver trays, perfect for the guest bathroom. Have a small vintage crystal decanter etched with stags that I fill with mouth wash that will look so pretty sitting on this tray with other toileteries. Would add the taller of the square beaded julep cup to hold tooth brushes.

Gorgeous table! I love the large Punch Bowl in your Silver Shop. When not filled with eggnog during the holidays, it would make a fine wine and champagne cooler. Have a wonderful Thanksgiving!

The domed platter is my favorite!! I have two domed bowls with glass inserts, great for keeping vegetables warm on the sideboard during celebratory dinners.

Since my childhood on a Southern country estate, I’ve always gleaned fall and winter decorations from nature, and I’ve continued all my life wherever I’ve lived. It’s rather traditional, after all, so I appreciate your fall theme for your Thanksgiving table. Isn’t it fun?

the mint Julep cups really are my favorite so many memories , table setting, parents parties where they were drinking mint julep

Oh, Tina, your talent produces such beauty! Thank you. If possible, can you please treat us to your Christmas preparations as well?

I have the same pheasant plates and found lovely tortoise shell goblets (Niemann Marcus) for this year. Pineapples will be the centerpieces (I always gild the tops…*sigh*) to homage our new sculpture (which I LUV) “Aloha” by Peter Griz!! Isn’t this fun??!!?? franki

Your tablescape is simply perfection!
Add a delicious meal and you have Thanksgiving heaven!,
Mint julep cups are perfect for breadsticks on a cheese platter…

I love the way you have set up your Thanksgiving dining table. I was surprised that you didn’t key off of the dinner plate with a turquoise hint of color on the bird plate, just to add a hint of that color in the mix,

I Love the beaded Mint Julep Cup, I would use it on my vanity for makeup brushes?

Fabulous post, Tina… I love every inch of your gorgeous table. The greenery around the plate is a beautiful idea. I can just imagine how gorgeous your home looks during the holidays with the fireplace going. Love the table lamps. Great touch. Hope you have a wonderful weekend.

LOVE everything! The shine of the silver makes me feel happy. Espescilly love the mini table lamps. What a beautiful addition to any table.

Silver trays are so pretty holding a candle in center, greens around edges, but silver still showing through. Mint julep cups with holly would look so nice on buffet, too. LOVE your Thanksgiving tablescape!

Love the silver serving pieces to serve all the wonderful food for the holidays, and the acorn mint juleps, to use as fillers with fall flowers on mantles or as table decorations/favors for fall bridal showers or weddings . Love the pictures of Teddy at the end of your posts.

Oh my goodness love it all. The addition of silver pieces during the holidays I agree adds such elegance to any table. I love (and own) several of your pieces but today my favorite is the new deer ice buckets and the beautiful trays. I ordered a few pieces and look forward to adding these to my collection of my enchanted home treasures.
Your table is so so beautiful. You have given me some great ideas here.

I love the ornate footed silver tray in the larger size. I would use it to replace the one that I bought as a “fill in” till I found the right piece. It will hold some of my beautiful crystal decanters & wine carafes.

My favorite is the 3 tier server. I will layer fresh greens and add fresh grapes ( red and green) that I gave dipped in egg white and rolled in crystal sugar.

Which would I choose? So many to cherish. I think I would choose the silver mint juleps-so many uses. Vases, containers, fill with eggs or tiny pumpkins depending on the season! Or maybe the mini-silver lamps…………!

I like the French Script Tray. I would use it on my buffet and put my collection of deers on it.

My most favorite item is the equestrian detailed julep. Since I live in Louisville, Ky., home of the Kentucky Derby, it’s a no brainer for me. I can see it filled with greenery, one at each place setting. Of course, the first Saturday in May filled to the brim with red roses. It can be used in the guest bathroom in various ways. It can sit on the entry hall table with fresh flowers atop 3-4 antique books. In a guest bedroom the same way on the bedside table. Love this versatile, beautiful cup.

You have inspired me to start planning my Thanksgiving table! Yours is just perfection! I have some silver serving pieces I use every year that were my mother’s. Love them but also love the silver planter from your shop too!

I’ve always loved julep cups.. They’re versatile. I have 2 which I use to decorate during Christmas using pheasant feathers and greens.. Normally they hold some bar supplies.
Your pictures of Teddy make my heart stop. We lost our 13 yr old Alaskan Malamute in May and this will be the first holidays without him..so I know how you feel.. Have a Happy Thanksgiving!

I like the large scaled centerpiece bowl. I can see a great arrangement with fresh flowers, fruit, and berries in it!

I love, love, love the deer head ice bucket. When not in use for ice, I would fill with greenery and pine cones as well!

So so pretty!!

I have a request. I have a big family (close to 30 for Christmas dinner) and my dining room does not come anywhere near accomodating that size crowd. I serve buffet style and set up tables throughout the first floor of the house, and I don’t assign tables, you sit where you like. Keeping the food and the drinks separate keeps everybody circulating – and of my siblings and their spouses all end up in the kitchen anyway!!!

I know you are the master of the formal sit down dinner, but I’d LOVE to see you dedicate a post to decorating for a holiday buffet.

Happy Thanksgiving!!

So many favorites! I can see the pierced trays not only at my dining room table, but also in many rooms of my house. Very versatile!!

I LOVE the silver chargers and see lots of others do too as they are almost all sold out…So lovely in a table setting or to use as a tray!!!

I had just seen a centerpiece that was a silver tray, with smaller silver vessels in varying sizes placed on top, red carnations in them and votive’s. It was so beautiful. These lovely mint julep cups would be perfect! I love your post!

I love the dome top deer tureen and pheasant plates. Is that tureen part of the line? Don’t see that available. Also loved the etched crystal glasses. Does anyone know what pattern that is? Can’t find it under William Yeoward glasses search.
