Hi there, this is long overdue. I had started it, then life got in the way and it remained in my draft box longer than I had hoped for. If you missed the first post on this trip, click here. It started off with a bang in Rome and though it had been years since we had been there, it was still as magical as ever. Then it was time to travel to Tuscany. And in many ways, it felt like traveling back in time.

I must say, this was my favorite part of the trip. We had never stayed in Tuscany before and to say it was magical would be a major understatement. We stayed in the iconic Rosewood Castiglion Del Bosco and there aren’t enough words to tell you how incredibly wonderful this hotel is. The service is beyond compare. The grounds, the rooms, the food, everything backed up its unrivaled reputation. This property belongs to the Ferragamo family and their mark of classic elegance can be felt and seen in every nook and cranny.

The resort sits on 5000 acres that was purchased by the Ferragamo family. The buildings have been there…..for 900 years! Talk about history! It comprises medieval buildings including a church, borgo, ruins of the castle and a town. There are I believe approx 45 suites and 10-12 villas (large homes).

The borgo is the center of where most of the villas are, and has a cooking school, a wonderful kitchen garden, a shop, two restaurants (one is Michelin started) and from there you can access the magnificent pool, spa, etc….

It is nestled high in the storybook hills of Tuscany. The nearest town is about 20 minutes away and is everything you could think of when you hear the word “Tuscany”. I will let my pictures do the talking.

I took so many pictures, that this has to be divided into two parts. So next time will be part two of Tuscany (and region) If you have questions specific to this leg of the trip, ask them in the comments and I will answer them there. Ready to virtually take a trip to Tuscany? Let’s go……

Forewarning- you will want to sit dow and take 15 for this! This is very picture heavy:)

Let the road trip begin!

The drive from Rome to Tuscany was everything I dreamed it would be, took at least 50 pictures of homes atop the magical hills

Driving there was so beautiful. These cypress trees were at least 100 feet tall, incredible!

I loved how there was not a single fast food restaurant, instead there were small trattorias/cafes and fruit stands. America, take note! We get McDonalds, Italy gets this!

A charming pasticceria along the way made for a perfect pit stop

Driving up to the hotel, was funny at first. It’s a very dusty, bumpy, rocky road. We were laughing wondienrg if our GPS has steered us wrong. Then we finally arrived after about a very bumpy 15 minutes drive up the mountain. Needless to say, I doubt there are any car washes within a 6o mile radius of these hills!

Checking in, we were overjoyed with our suite which was bigger than your average NYC apartment. It had every creature comfort imaginable and was appointed in true Tuscan elegant style.

These beautiful leather bound “books” covered everything from menus to spa services, local attractions, etc…..so beautifully presented

There was a beautiful fireplace in the sitting area, every night they would come and light the candles…such a special touch

There was not a single detail they left out in our rooms, including a convenient Nespresso

The picture of Tuscan elegance and it was enormous!

Beautifully appointed bathroom

They even provide a Dyson…brownie points!

I was obsessed with the windows and these volets or wood shutters that were all over our room. Loved waking up and flinging them open, I felt like I was a character in a a magical fairytale:)  They were just magnificent. I took a video of them but don’t know how to add it here:(

Where I discovered the Santa Maria Novella bath products..absolute heaven, this scent was ordered right away!

Even small details like this in the closet…you just don’t see anymore!

The elegant facade of the buildings are just magnificent and to think of how long they have stood there!

The more casual restaurant (food was excellent) Osteraia La Canonica

How charming is the kitchen window

Every meal was fabulous

Pizzas were so so good

The magnificent entrance to the incredible winery (more on that next post)

One of the beautiful lounge areas where you can relax after dinner

This medieval chapel is over 900 years old!

Dining next to lemon trees…sign me up! Checked this off my bucket list

We spent a lot of time at the beautiful pool, such a gorgeous setting, so serene and relaxing

And the view weren’t bad either:)

There’s a bar at the pool where they serve light lunch, drink, etc…

Loved the door to my sons room

Waking up early to go have coffee

Another fabulous meal!

This eggplant was sooo good!

Well, if you made it this far, thank you! I told you there were a lot of pictures and this is a fraction of what I took. It was hard narrowing it down. I will do a part 2 on Tuscany hopefully next week. I don’t want to wait too long to finish up these Italy posts,  so the memories are still fresh on my mind.

To say this was a special trip would be an understatement, it was incredible and I cannot recommend Castiglion del Bosco highly enough.  It was a splurge but well worth it. Hope you enjoyed my recap, thanks for stopping by. Wishing everyone a fabulous day! Until next time…..
