Good Thursday afternoon, well at 4pm almost evening…….This week has been really busy, a lot of “stuff” but not the fun kind of stuff we all love like decorating, and window treatments and beautiful textiles, gorgeous fixtures, fluffy pillows and those kinds of things, more like plumbing and electrical issues, going through the whole house and putting the registers in, touching up on the paint in all the rooms….yea that kind of boring stuff. But in between all this boringness, I did manage to start thinking about fabrics for my kitchen and am here today to share with you a few stool contenders as well as some fabrics I am liking. As usual you know I love your opinions!
Today is one of those “everythings getting on my nerves day”, there is someone working in every corner of the house that is important to me, i.e. my bedroom, my bathroom, the kitchen and when I finally figured I could escape to the alcove near the guest room…bam! someone was there too…….not the most relaxing day today so concentrating on getting distracted in blogland!
Part of the fun of opening up boxes after being in storage for years is rediscovering some goodies. I was so excited to see a lantern that I had bought right before we sold our house (remember we sold it without it being on the market) so it happened unexpectedly. Anywho, loved these lanterns and never had the chance to hang it. SO it was put away for safe keeping. What I dont’ remember though is having bought two! So I was very excited to discover a pair. And then it dawned on me….why not put them up in the kitchen at least for now until my permanent fixtures come out which are now back ordered until April? And you know what, they look pretty darn good. I absolutely love the fixture, the etching is spectacular and ironically reminiscent of my beautiful William Yeoward cake plate!! See, there are no mistakes!! So here’s a bunch of random odds and ends…….

Palette for master, carpet is ivory strange colors here (still trying to figure out my Nikon and way too impatient to read the manual like normal people, sorry!
The big pieces is wallpaper, the front is carpet, the left is a velvet stripe (thinking for bench) and right could be pretty on a pair of chairs, still in the “playing stage” but fabric and carpet I love
Hallway uncovered, isn’t the Windex bottle a nice touch? You know me, its either Charmin, Nyquil or Windex….I really should be getting something out of that, lol.

imagine that fabric on these stools (this is one of three stools I am considering) I would change the wood base to a dark dark wood or black to match island. It was funny because Bonnie Neiman sent these as an idea and I already had them in my file as one of three possible stools .as I told her, great minds think alike! Thoughts? Is it a like? A love?

So that’s it for today, still doing lots of unpacking, and less organizing than I should, but am managing to do a little every day. I apologize for pictures that felt repetitive, frankly it has more to do with my stubborness in getting the right lighting with my camera and settings, and some are accurate while others are not, hence the repetition! I am wiped and am going to take a long coffee break and visit some of my favorite blogs now….important to pace yourself! Hope you are having a fantastic day…..until we meet again!

LOVE the stools, the fabric, well everything. Those lanterns are amazingly beautiful. Where on earth did you get them? The etching looks incredible. I would keep those, don’t know what else you had in mind but those look perfect. That hallway too, wow! What a shot, I can see a wedding happening in this house, any daughters that can sashay down that goregous staircase?

LOVE the stools….you’ve got a winner especially with the fabric. The kitchen and island are so large you need a grander chair on the stool and I think the one you pictured is perfect!

I remember really well having lots of people all over and how it made me scream (inside and to myself) I had no privacy then throw 3 kids under 10, 2 dogs and a husband who is like a fourth kid into the mix! We got through it and I will never forget the first day where there was no one there, it was heaven. You will get there soon, I promise.
Now onto the good stuff, the lanterns are PERFECT as the stools. Your blue and white fabric is a winner, I wouldn’t look any more, cannot imagine you doing any better. Your house is a dream, but I am sure you know that. We are really lucky to have a very beautiful home, approx. 8000 sq feet. WEll tina, looks like things are coming along. So so pretty! I love the bar stool, and i am with you on the colors an dI love the fabric you have chosen. Love your collection of blue and white porcelain. The William Yeoward cake plate is beautiful, and the lanterns do match perfectly. Wow. I know that you will love it when it is all settled, but if it is like the houses I have built, they will be there until at least a year has passed. I love that fabric and have been looking at a few B&F fabrics, including the Les Alizes fabrics. I must have had about 100 blue and white fabric samples here in the past few weeks, trying to liven up my collection of cushions and pick something for drapes. There are so many shades of blue and so many choices, it’s impossible. Love this fabric though, it’s divine.

As far as the Windex bottle goes, it detracts not one iota, it looks beuatiful, simply stunning. What amazing progress when you think about it, while it may not feel that way to you, it really is divine to see how it has come together.

I think the lanterns add a touch of elegance to the kitchen. They are so beautiful. That fabric on those stools would be wonderful. I would not try to match the black on the island. I think the legs of the stools would get lost. Instead, I would try to pick a wood color from maybe the family room that would bring in that room to the kitchen.
Your blue & white collection is fabulous. Where do you get them? I never have seen any thing like them. They are very unique.

I am in the midst of a remodel and have been looking for some lighting for over the island. Last weekend I found two lanterns that look very similar to the ones you have, but just couldn’t make up my mind about them. Ive never seen such a beautifully lit kitchen, OHHHHHHH the recessed hidden lighting, praise be. Really lets the lanterns shine. I have rehang every thing, go too high. Kiss of death ugh. NOW I get all “smart” hang too low…..then rehang, figures:) so much fun, if not a PAIN! ha
I love your bell jar lanterns. They look beautiful in the kitchen, but if you switch them out, they could always work in the hall or your dressing room. Love the upholstered stool (the legs are not clunky like most barstools, but elegant and graceful. The fabric perfectly complements your blue and white porcelain collection. Winners all. I was so happy to sit down and read your blog with a glass of wine after a looong day with my mother-in-law (who loves to give me advice on how to keep my house clean – she means well & says it nicely at least?). I feel like I haven’t had a chance to really enjoy my blog reading for awhile because I’ve been so busy! Anyway, I LOVE all of your updates. LOVE IT! I played with fabric all day today too! Tina, I have a sample of that fabric and I love it. It could be very interesting on your bar stools. You might have to be careful of fabric placement. The pattern is in such away that you will need to think exactly where you want the pattern to go and how. I am loving all the jars!

Wow! Every time I look at a post of part of your home I am blown away. Your entryway is AMAZING. I think you’re right to lower the kitchen fixtures. I am a blue girl so I love your fabric selections. I think I’d go with the more primary color blues for the kitchen rather than the softer hues.

The bell jar lanterns are perfect! I also like the wallpaper, stripe fabric, and carpet choices for the bedroom. I like bar stools with backs (for comfort) and particularly like the ones you’ve chosen.

I love that fabric and have been looking at a few B&F fabrics, including the Les Alizes fabrics. I must have had about 100 blue and white fabric samples here in the past few weeks, trying to liven up my collection of cushions and pick something for drapes. There are so many shades of blue and so many choices, it’s impossible. Love this fabric though, it’s divine.

I think the lanterns add a touch of elegance to the kitchen. They are so beautiful. That fabric on those stools would be wonderful. I would not try to match the black on the island. I think the legs of the stools would get lost. Instead, I would try to pick a wood color from maybe the family room that would bring in that room to the kitchen.
Your blue & white collection is fabulous. Where do you get them? I never have seen any thing like them. They are very unique.

I love your bell jar lanterns. They look beautiful in the kitchen, but if you switch them out, they could always work in the hall or your dressing room. Love the upholstered stool (the legs are not clunky like most barstools, but elegant and graceful. The fabric perfectly complements your blue and white porcelain collection. Winners all.

Tina, I’m just dying over your house. I was so happy to sit down and read your blog with a glass of wine after a looong day with my mother-in-law (who loves to give me advice on how to keep my house clean – she means well & says it nicely at least?). Tina, I have a sample of that fabric and I love it. It could be very interesting on your bar stools. You might have to be careful of fabric placement. The pattern is in such away that you will need to think exactly where you want the pattern to go and how. I am loving all the jars!
