Good late Monday afternoon sweetpeas, and how was your weekend? Ours was unexpectedly relaxing, spent a lot of time at home (always a treat) as we were trying to dig out of the approx. 22 inches that fell around here! It was quite the snowstorm. If you missed my pictures, seeing is believing you must check it out, click here. Now that mother nature has shown us who‘s in charge…I am totally ready to zoom into spring!

How I love velvet…. I actually always have had a thing for it but in recent years, my love has escalated to an obsession. And there’s no cure in sight. Kind of like the blue and white affliction….oh well at least it’s all in the name of beauty. I adore velvet, its luscious texture, soft sheen and coziness make it a fabric I could easily have in every room.

It is as beautiful in a living, dining or library as it is a study or bedroom. Add a beautiful trim to a solid color velvet and the result is nothing short of spectacular! As I am decorating my own home, I have more than a handful of ideas of how and where I plan to incorporate velvet. And seriously this is one fabric that looks just amazing in every single color, I have yet to see a color it doesn’t rock in!

Stunning! Velvet is so beautiful in a rich hue like this blue, and the tufting is like the icing on the cake! Atticmag

I adore velvet Tina! Very popular with my clients at the moment. All beautiful images, but definitely have my eye on those grey velvet sofas……..

Hope the snow makes way for Spring soon!

Sophia

How pretty each and every room is! Favorite would be the dark blue velvet ottoman paired with the cream sofa and floral rug. Our snow here in Northeast Ohio melted overnight, we were not hit with the East Coast storm, seeing green for the first time in a month. The thaw may be coming your way too, watch out for flooding now!

Beautiful photos, Tina. Yesterday I bought two blue and white RL small lamps. As the Mister and I were walking to the car the Mister said, “Boy, the “enchanted lady” would be proud of you!” Tina, you are a legend in our household!

How beautiful! I only have one small velvet chair in a gold/tan color which is so pretty but think I need more velvet in my life. I love the idea of a velvet headboard and a tufted ottoman. So many great ideas here, Tina. Hope you are clearing out some of that snow, it was fun to see in pictures but I have to say having endured many many cold and snowy winters in Boston while I was in college/grad school was enough to last me a lifetime! It is beautiful though.

Quite a chunk of heaven here, Tina. Absolutely stunning images. The purple chaise is my favorite. Just stunning, and the velvet curtains are to die for.
You really did get the snow, but it certainly is beautiful. The northeast has really been hit this year.
Happy Monday.

We love velvet in any color and have just ordered yards of Kravet Ocean Blue velvet to recover a couch. And with the weather we’re having, how nice is it to curl up on a velvet couch with a book and a throw! We’re all dug out and getting wet.

Oh Tina, your taste is above marvelous and you hit my velvet button for sure…love it as well and your picture with the teal french bench in the foyer is my utmost favourite piece…I want it so bad!
Velvet is velvet and we do have a lot of it in the house…never enough, egreed!
What a beautiful post…I am saving all images …thank you, XO Z

Already a fan and would use it in my house if I didn’t have young kids. I’m guessing velvet and sticky fingers don’t mix. I do love it in sofas and chairs, but those curtains are the height of opulence and luxury. Glorious!

Thank you Thank you Thank you Tina….Now i can sleep. You dont know how this just saved my sanity. I also love velvet. Especially a teal (deeper turquoise). I just ordered a sectional in this color because its what I love and wanted. Well you know, the second guessing starts and my son even said… hmmm, turquoise velvet mom, that sounds a little tacky. So now I can be assured that I am going to love it. Im doing camel velvet with camel and teal fringed pillows on it too. After seeing that banquette, I might need to throw a little animal print on it too… I’ll show them…tacky!! Thanks for the perfect post today. Pam G.

i have only two velvet pillows. there is a velvet shortage here! crap! and i am currently crushing on those brown velvet cushions and ottoman at joni’s client’s house today on her blog.

smooches.

Yes, I fell in love with those pillows also Michele. They just made the room come together. Tina, I also noticed one of the paintings in the first pictures was the one your husband purchased that you have hanging now. It is beautiful. I love this and it looks wonderful in your home and I am still hoping for the name/artist of the sheep painting in your friend’s home (mantle decorated with the owls). Anyway,
everything in your home is beautiful and also in Joni’s- very very different but I like both equally.

Hello Tina,

Happy to hear that you are slowly digging out. I cannot believe that you received 21 inches!!!! My goodness but it did look beautiful.

I hope you had a good weekend even though you did not make it to Boston.

I LOVE velvet!!!! I think it is such a beautiful fabric and I agree with you that it looks fabulous in every color and almost any place. I prefer it in the dark jewel tones.

Hope you enjoy your evening!

Take care, Elizabeth

I couldn’t help but hear the Bobby Vinton song ‘Blue Velvet’ playing in the background while I read your post. Yes, there is something so sweet, sensual and romantic about velvet.

I have a red velvet tufted chair at my dressing table – very girlie. I do love the violet velvet settee, oh so pretty.

Gorgeous inspiration pics!!! I too just adore velvet!!! Glad to hear you survived the storm and are now digging your way out!!!

Beautiful post Tina. Velvet is so elegant and adds the perfect texture addition to any room. Enjoy your snow day and spring will be here before you know it!

And here I never thought I was a fan of velvet…these pictures definitely changed my mind, though! Guess I’ve just never seen velvet done right! 🙂

Hi Tina! I love velvet and use it all the time for my clients. I especially love antique velvet since the nap is a bit more casual and tends to be more forgiving. The purple velvet is insane and I have to say I have the same pictures pinned on my Pinterest! Great minds as usual 🙂
Hope you have a happy week

I have always loved velvet. As a little girl, I swooned over the ever classic black velvet special occasion dress. Every age I can remember, I had to have something in velvet, whether to wear, or for the home. In the south, we were told that velvet was a fabric for colder climates. Didn’t make me any difference. I was going to have my velvet furnishings all year, regardless of whether I could wear velvet only in the fall and winter. I agree, velvet is beautiful in every color. I naturally go for navy, then the hues of blue, onto the raspberries, black, white, and brown. I do love some “cut” velvets, too!

I love velvet Tina… and have a couple of velvet bits and pieces in London… Next makeover I am going way more ‘velvet’… and can’t wait…
Great pictures… so many to smile over… Have a great week… xv

No enchanted home is complete without some cosy and elegant velvet piece.
I’m dreaming of renewing a bergére with purple velvet.
Lovely tips, Tina. Thank you for sharing!

Ahhh….and like the Velveteen Rabbit said, “When you are all worn out, it means that you have been loved.”

Bring it on. Worn velvet is welcomed in my décor any time and that blue chair is MINE!

Happy day precious Tina! Anita

My thoughts are that I love velvet and now am thinking of ways I can add more to my home! I love the navy ottoman and that beautiful French chair, I seem to gravitate more towards teh blues and earth tones though like you said there isn’t a bad color in velvet. Beautiful post with so many wonderful ideas, thanks Tina.

I agree, velvet is so glamorous and warm and in great vibrant colours, against ornate or gold/silver frames it can completely lift a room, pulling together a design. The above pictures are great – my favorites have to be the teal French bench – which was made for that foyer and also the stunning chaise in purple velvet.

Of course!! I love any fabric that begs to be touched!

And, as far as color, I seem to be attracted to a lighter color…like a lighter blue. Ahhhh…I just want to curl up on one of those velvet chaises today!!!
More snow on the way!

xoxo Elizabeth

Love velvet and all the colors ways, for pillows, slipcovers, table runners, drapery you name it. An don’t forget clothes, blazers, shoes, purses, pants. everningwear, vests etc. The color on velvet is so powdery and direct and love the floral reverse velvet too.

Great post…indeed!

LOVE velvet and always have! IF it is overdone, yes it can be tacky, but these pictures are all beautiful and tasteful! Thanks for posting! My husband thinks all velvet is tacky (i.e. velvet Elvis), so I will have to prove he’s wrong by showing him this post.

By the way, I am in love with the deep blue walls in the picture with the dark blue studded ottoman and floral rug. Is there ANY way we can find out what color paint that is???

Thanks!
Candace
