As one of my most admired blogging friends, I was delighted to say YES when Tina asked me to do this little guest post, talking a bit about myself, how I managed to get into the accessories business, along with some advice and some witticisms. After college graduation I married a dashing Air Force officer, whom I had known for many years as he lived behind one of my aunts & uncles. Young and clueless then, sort of like June Cleaver, I gave no thought to WORK. But soon found my energies being directed out of the house and into either interior design work or fashion. I had a degree in Art History, which meant I knew how to have conversations or give tours around museums. However, undaunted, I set out to find a job.

As the luck of the draw would have it I was hired to be the Assistant to the son of the owner of one of Texas?s prestigious specialty stores. And, so it goes. My interest in fashion developed
into learning about fashion from every perspective. What makes luxury? What is the difference between good & fine? I believe my years with them taught me almost everything I know.
I left this glamorous life to travel with my husband to the Middle East where he was in charge of building (at the time) the world?s largest petrochemical refinery. I learned about Persian rugs,
tribal ones and fine art pieces, I learned about the silver in the Middle East, and when it was time to come home I was sad.

But I had seen Isfahan and Beirut, and the artistry of their crafts became part of me. Years later I began working at Sak?s 5th Avenue in Houston as one of their stylists. There were only 5 of us, with our own assistants, secretaries and a manager from heaven. Of course, we were expected to have millionaire clients, and we did. It was a dream of a job & I would never have left, but my 2nd husband got sick and we were only married a few years and I knew how much he loved traveling and having fun, so that?s what we did. Now, here?s where the jewelry part comes in. My best girlfriend developed a serious & fatal round of cancer. While I grieved for her I started creating jewelry. Pieces that either one of us could wear, because we were very much alike. Born only 2 days apart in the same hospital!

The doublestranded necklace was one of the 1st pieces I made. SemiPrecious Stones with Freshwater Pearls Dangling from a 14k Gold Chain. Believe me, I had no idea how much
architecture and engineering went into these creations, let alone the proper stringing materials and gauge of wire to use.

The above piece is a long long rope of Garnet Rondelles, with Silver from Turkey, Bali Silver Beads & Faceted Garnet PearShaped stones, with a Large Antique Silver ?Potion? Bottle, with a ScrewOff
Top. I wear this myself, along with a Black Tourmaline one which is quite similar but a bit longer and with a different pendant. I feel like a Turkish princess.

Another example of our SemiPrecious Jewelry is this MultiStranded Sterling Silver & Round Garnet Beads. All handmade in our Houston studio.

Today in the Splenderosa Shop we are selling very high quality FASHION JEWELRY and some amazing FASHION HANDBAGS. We are very happy with all these items.
However, the desire to go into more of the ?luxury? merchandise has led me to find a fabulous new resource for us. It?s for 100% Italian Leather Handbags of the ultimate styling.

These bags will all carry the SPLENDEROSA LABEL, and will come in our labelled Splenderosa Dust Jackets. They make me very proud to be able to offer them to my clients at wonderful prices. We have already received a few pieces into our stock, which are shown on our website HERE
We will also add back some of our handmade jewelry items as soon as a collection is completed. Additionally, I have purchased some amazing earrings for everyone to see. They
are also SemiPrecious or Freshwater Pearl, beginning with a more conservative but rockedout look. Mabe Pearl and Sterling Silver Ring & Earrings, as an example.

Life continues to be so very interesting to me, my children are adults, both with their own children. I have time to do the things I have always loved, traveling and learning being
paramount in my life. I love surprises. Well, don?t we all.

As for favorite items in Marsha’s online shop, that was hard, I look at them all the time. I have been dreaming of owning the ‘Natalie’ gold necklace and the Gold crystal teardrop cascading necklace. I just spent way too much time on Splenderosa..I’m loving her aquamarine with crystals double bracelet. It’s edgy with class. I haven’t pulled the trigger on that look even though I like it very much. I’m so glad to see it executed so well. I’m not 20 anymore but love some of the trends, just bit more upscale..this is that exactly. What great price points as well. This may be the go to for girlfriend gifts.
