Hi there, happy Saturday morning to you…… today was the first day in what seems like years that I was able to fling open my windows and hear the birds chirp…what a great way to start a morning!

This is a short post (for me at least) but I have started doing a lot of e design and must say I really do love it…it is so gratifying to help someone realize a dream room or just give them a direction to work towards. Many times people are just looking for a concept so that they can start working towards finishing a space, but sometimes they want to execute and get busy right then and there, whatever the objective is……..e design is a fast moving, efficient, affordable way to approach design and a superb? idea for those who love “instant gratification”!!

The success largely depends on rapid fire exchanges of emails back and forth over the period of at least a few weeks. I generally allow 3 weeks for most jobs, unless its unusually small or large. I have a large network of resources at my fingertips so e-design is a great way to get a lot of information/choices out to the consumer instantly.? I get a lot of inquires as to how it works and many questions. Here are a few of the most common questions, then a few recent e-design boards.

  • How long does it take? The vast majority of e design jobs wrap up within 3 weeks. However many continue off and on long after, I will still get (and be available for) questions and opinions on things as their room comes together
  • How much does it cost? It starts at $250 and runs up to $750. I also do custom packages for projects that involve multiple rooms/unusual spaces.
  • I am not much of an emailer…will it be hard to make e design work? Yes! It will be nearly impossible, as it is done 100% via email, no phone calls. Only take this on if you are comfortable emailing and on your computer often!
  • How do you work with a budget? Everyone’s situation is different, for some they are on a very tight/limited budget whereas for others not so much, this is established from the start so anything shown is well within your budget, what ‘s the point of looking at something you cannot afford!
  • What can I expect to get done? Everything..from flooring suggestions, paint, fabrics, furniture, wallpaper, lighting, accessories, styling, etc…….
  • Do I pass on discounts? Yep, this might be the best part! Under certain e design plans, I pass on my designer discount to you the consumer (it can be substantial and result in a big savings)!

So that’s it in a nutshell. All e design jobs involve mood boards, some as few as 1-2 and others as many as 8 or more. Below are a few recent ones…..

This is a current project, redoing a family room to reflect a lighter airier feeling with touches of blues and using her own rugOB-ASHELY-FOYER

This was a small foyer option showing different chairs and lamps…..

OB-meredithfabricssnapshot

This was a fabric board showing combinations of different fabrics in the blues and incorporating checks

This was a design concept for someone who bought a small apt. in Chicago

OB-ASHELY UPDATED PAINTS

Paint optionsOB-Sofa with pillows2

One sofa showing different pillow combinationsOB-ashlaaeyliving1

Showing colors coming together…..

OB-elizasnapshotThis was a fun room….(since I do not have girls), this was for a 13 year old who loves Paris and pink, but her mom wanted something still sophisticated that she could grow into (with a limited budget, we maximized the look)

It is truly enjoyable, gratifying (and validating) to see choices eventually get? laid out on a mood board, then you know what needs to be tweaked or edited. The process is indeed a collaborative effort, which is what makes each one of them so unique.

I am taking e design jobs for the week of April. 24th as of right now, so if you have any interest please contact me at [email protected]. Thanks for stopping in, wishing you? a wonderful and hopefully enjoyable spring day and weekend!

Also no longer taking pictures for Pet Love, I have far surpassed the 60 picture quota…its going to be a tough competition, cannot wait!

Wow, Tina, what a wonderful thing to get done!

Loved the mood boards that you showed as examples of what you can put together!

A truly excellent alternative to an expensive interior designer, very sweet of you to do for people.

Hope that you have a great weekend.

Tina…I love what you have shared here! We had talked about e-design but I wasn’t really sure how it worked and this makes it very clear. Your mood boards are all excellent, but I am not surprised in the least with your taste. Have a lovely weekend…it is SO nice to see the sun shining! xoxo

Good morning Tina! So good to know that you can open your windows and hear the birds! ME TOO! I’ve already seen chickadees making a nest in our birdhouse and have watched the robins come down to listen for worms. The stage is set for spring!

I am so happy for you that you are putting your enormous talents to such a great service here. You have to be having FUN! I don’t know how you manage your home, your blog and now this! But you do, and I admire you. Thank you for always taking a moment to come to visit me, Tina. You really are a lady living in a castle. Much love! Anita

Tina these boards are so beautiful, who wouldn’t be overjoyed to see their rooms put together like this. I love the idea, you have fantastic taste.
I wish I could be 13 again and have a room that looks like the one above, lucky girl!

And love all the soft blues and greens, the way that they were all put together is so pretty.

Always wondered myself how this works as it seems relatively new? You are very talented, love that first board, would love my own family room to look like that and will keep this in mind for when our renovation project is done (if ever haha). Have a nice weekend Tina.

i am so happy to hear this is making you happy. i can imagine that it often feels more like play–and isn’t that the dream everyone dreams? some day i think i would like to be an interior stylist for folks. prob not eDesign since my job involves enough (too much) time online. but what fun bringing ideas and furnishings on the screen come to life and enhance someone else’s everyday.

love to you, seeker of beauty.
