Good morning friends…can you believe that we are approaching mid July?? That means fall clothes promotions are going to soon start taking our email  boxes hostage 🙁

I am home this weekend, I  let the boys use the house on the weekends, where the Hamptons comes alive with every 20 and 30 year old within 100 miles. They can have it. I am perfectly content to be home gardening and chilling with a glass of Rose) The weekdays are much more my speed:)

It was great being at the beach but there were two sad incidences that interrupted things. My aunt passed away after a valiant battle with cancer, she had suffered a long time but the finality of the loss of a loved one always hits hard, and I am sad to see my mother so heartbroken. I  know that with time, the wounds will start to heal.

Then one of my our closest friends lost his sister to a really aggressive cancer that came on so fast and strong, at only 64, she seemed too young to go. Boy, life can be fleeting and my take away from this week is to truly savor every day and look at even the smallest things as gifts.  Onto happier subjects! Here is what is cooking this Sunday…

1 NEW FAVORITE SUMMER NECKLACE. So I found this beauty while pursuing turquoise necklace options, I have a favorite that sadly broke in many pieces so needed to replace it.

I LOVE turquoise with an all white outfit for the summer. This was a great buy, click here to see all of Alexis Bittar’s goodies, all heavily discounted over at Last Call  ( I have gotten soooo many good buys over there)-

2. NEED A COLOR TOUCH UP? Nearly everyone I know gets their hair colored or highlighted and while it looks great, it stinks when you are between touch ups and can’t get to your colorist.

I get a full head of highlights three times a year so in between touch ups, I love the idea of a quick fix…..who doesn’t? A friend who I trust and who takes her beauty regimen very seriously told me about this product, Temptu.

Then I see Vogue raving about it and hailing it “genius”. Naturally I am considering getting it, its an airbrush system and a completely new approach to how one can touch up their hair in between salon visits, has anyone tried it? If so would love to hear what you think, is it worth it? This could be a real time saver plus love that it’s waterproof!   Click here to find out more...

4. MONTAUK! I  have been back and forth between Montauk and having fun….I do miss those days when I went out for weeks at a time but now that I am working, duty calls. So I go out for small spurts, 2 or 3 days come back then out again. It’s been fun and soooo relaxing. Love when my friends come out as its a great place to unwind with girlfriends (and a glass of Rose) 🙂 Here are some highlights-

6. A RECIPE WORTH SHARING. Full disclosure, I have not yet tried these however read a great review on them so this is on my list to make this week. Never been a big meat eater and have always loved a good vege burger so I am excited about this, It is easy and sounds so tasty! I will be sure to report back. 7.  SOMETHING TO MAKE YOU LAUGH. Let’s end this with something funny, shall we. And yes politics this year let’s just say is not only rather “unorthodox” but at times yes, it’s even comical no matter what side of the aisle you might be on!  So leave it up to Steven Colbert and a room of 7 year olds to shed some light on the situation:) Enjoy!

Hi Tina,
Yes, the link for the veggie burger goes to Last Call, Alexis Bittar. Would love to try the recipe, would you please correct it?

Yes, the link for the recipe takes us to the Last Call website for the necklace. I love your Seven on Sunday posts. It’s my favorite post of the week! However, each week the photos are often jumbled out of order with the captions or are repeated with no captions. ?

Pippin Hill Farm is outside of Charlottesville VA and is so beautiful nestled into the Blue Ridge Mountains. Thank you for sharing the beautiful summer travels!

So sorry for your loss, thoughts and prayers to you and your family. Cancer is a tough and never easy to let go.

On a happier note I love the rainbow flowers in the pick up. So pretty. Being at the beach is so relaxing glad you have time away. Would love to see some vases in you shop like the one from the photo Flower Magazine! Enjoy your Sunday!

There is nothing like the sound of waves at the beach to bring us calm and no one like Stephen Colbert to make us laugh! Thanks for sharing, Tina! Happy summer!

Love your beach pictures and I’m happy you get to spend time out there. There’s just something about the beach that’s so calming. I’m in Folly Beach this week…so close to Charleston and it is relaxing. This is one place I could live happily and forever. Enjoy your ros? and and cheers to a wonderful summer. (I am so very sorry for your loss; your aunt and a special friend.) Enjoy July, August is coming quickly!

Sorry for the loss of your Aunt and friend. It is never easy.

Love the photos! Loving your beach house–very calming. I always say, when the Fourth of July comes, summer is over!!!

Enjoy every day!

My hubby and I are on our way to vacation in upper Wisconsin with some friends. We are so ready to get away from the Lake of the Ozarks, where it has been hot and humid. You wear the weather like a sweater! Looking forward to cooler weather and less humidity!

Very sorry for your loss; we lost a friend at 46 years of age, this spring, to small cell carcinoma. It doesn’t seem fair. We feel so blessed to be enjoying retirement. My husband always says that he is living life to the fullest and you’re lucky when you get to.

Enjoy the beach. I am a California girl and even enjoyed the beach on overcast days.

Hugs to Teddy.

In regards to hair color touch-ups: relax and go grey! It’s the ultimate freedom!

Love ALL of your posts! They never cease to fascinate me! I’m an online shopping guru. My biggest tip to anyone is to set up email accounts with your favorite vendors. I get newsletters, sales, etc from Alexis Bittar (today an additional 25% off!!), Ippollita, Frieda Rothman, David Yurman, Chanel, Valentino, Donald Pliner, Jimmy Choo, Michael Kors (also and additional 25% off today), Prada, Louis Vuitton to name a few. Although C, DY, P, and LV never have clearances, nor sales. I receive over 300 shopping emails a day and have them filter into their own folders (by setting Rules) so that I never miss the important emails from family and friends. I’m also never restricted to just what Nordstroms, Neiman Marcus, Saks, Bloomingdales, Lord & Taylor, etc. has on sale or in stock. (They also have their own folder.) I’m never without the latest trends and can generally plan my next great buy!

Regarding your hunt for turquoise, don’t forget about Marah Lago. The stone is Larimar and is only found in the Dominican Republic. I’m sure you’ll fall in love with its varying shades of blue.

Hi Tina: I live not far from Pippin Hill and yes, it is beautiful. I would suggest that you go to the web site for Southern Blooms by Pat’s Floral Designs . They do a lot of the weddings held there and between the venue and their creations, magic happens! VIrginia truly is for lovers!

Tina,
Very sorry to hear about your aunt.
We just returned from a memorial held in Phoenix for our dear friend Annie Meisenzahl who also died from agressive short-term cancer at 64. Is your friend her brother (she only had one sibling, a brother, who could not attend the service)?

So sorry to hear of your sad news. Here’s to a cure for more cancers in our lifetime! Losing someone we love to this damn disease and the tragic incidents of the past few months just reinforces for me that none of us is promised tomorrow, so we’d better make sure that those we love know it. Should be a wake-up call to all of us to live life to the fullest, as hokey and cliche as that sounds, and that means creating beautiful, restful spaces so that Home can truly be a refuge for ourselves, our family and our friends.

Envious of your beach time. I take a beach vacation any way I can get it: hubby and I have even spent time on Hilton Head at the end of February (that’s what layers are for!). Having that deserted stretch of sand to walk in the early morning is the perfect way to start the day!

Oh Tina, I am so saddened to hear about your aunt and also your friend’s sister. Life is just too fleeting. Sending you hugs and love!

Your Seven on Sunday is always in my top posts of the week and this week is as good as always! I definitely need the highlight touch up and LOVE seeing the pics of the beach. Hope your week is better than the past few days. xoxo
