Hello! So how is everyone’s 2019 going so far? Here back in the saddle and keeping busy! I realized I am so not a winter person though, yes when my kids were young and we went on family ski trips it was great but no longer do I love winter. Though truth be told, our winter here in NY has not been bad at all……only one snowfall.

When we were in PB, we had such great weather, 70’s which to me is ideal. I will be so happy when spring arrives!  I cannot lie there were more than a few times this week that I was tempted to run away and go right back,as it is soooo relaxing and so nice to be in a place where time feels like it slows down a bit.

We were supposed to be in Argentina right after Christmas but for a variety of reasons it did work out so last minute we went down to PB. It was the ultimate way to unplug, we were very lazy and had very little planned and you  know what? It was amazing! I feel like we have such a scheduled life that any chance to get away and feel free from obligations is really a treat. I wish we could have stayed longer….hopefully next time!

At this stage of the game, there are not the huge dramatic differences from each time I post but small subtle things. The house definitely feels like a home and it is so welcoming and peaceful. It is a wonderful retreat and I like to take advantage of getting down as often as possible.

Love this shot of the house all lit up at twilight:)

That first obligatory cup of coffee on the porch marks the official start to unplugging!

The room we spend a lot of time in, love living in this open floor plan

The lampshades look very orange here I can assure you they do not look orange at all, just for some reason in pictures- as soon as I get my new shades in however, they will be promptly replaced!

Had guests over and made my yummy crab balls as an appetizer

And they were a hit! (recipe will be shared on Sunday’s post)

We use my melamine there all the time…..so easy without compromising on the pretty:)

We were on the golf cart and took a few pictures of a wedding set up, there was some late day mistiness/fog and it made for the prettiest pictures!

Back to the house……

Starting a white bowl collection for the back kitchen and loving the effect, since this picture I added more larger white bowls on top shelf, forgot to take pic

Funny but true, this was the first time I had ever put these inner cabinet lights on and I love them:)

And one day we went over to Hilton Head, what a gorgeous beach!! I took these pictures and must say I am incredibly proud of them:)

And this is my  Pièce de résistance lol, may even get this blown up!

So not a lot of change since last time, at this point its small things here and there. I am excited that I have what will be a fabulous painting being done by a southern artist that will go  in the foyer (where a chest will go) and working on a family photo collage wall. Debating if I want to add fabric panels to my master bedroom and still deciding on window treatments for the large kitchen windows. So there is always something to think about to be sure, but I am taking my time and getting it right:)

Hello Tina,

It looks like a very relaxing trip. Sorry that you were not able to go to Argentina. We have been 3 times in the last three years as my step-son and gran-kids are there. We will be going again in the Spring before they move back to the states. It is a beautiful country, especially the Patagonia. I hope that you rescheduled and are able to go soon.

Love seeing your beautiful retreat!

Have a happy new year my friend.

Always enjoy getting little vicarious visits back to PB via you. Love it there. You will have to share your recipe for those crab balls. Happy New Year!

Hi Tina,
Beautiful! I’m from Vancouver Canada so am guessing PB is Palm Beach? How far of a drive to Hilton Head, SC?

Thank you for sharing these lovely photos of your getaway home and the scenic ones are beautiful?

Would love the crab ball recipe. Have you posted it and I missed it?

Thank you for sharing,
Diane

Palm Beach, CA is roughly 2,000 miles from Hilton Head, South Carolina. PB stands for Palmetto Bluff,S. C.

Beautiful area … was there a couple of years ago visiting a friend in a near by area… love the chapel … so pretty

Love it! Do not change lampshades. Think it is so warm at night to see the warm glow against a cool pallet. Especially like the lit up kitchen cabinets at night. Looks so relaxing and how fortunate you are to have a wonderful escape!!! Always look forward to your posts. Thanks so much for sharing!!

Your home is so lovley and you have the most original decorating skills! It is hard to blend tone on tone colors and
it not be boring.
We have homes in Savannah and Saint Simons Island Welcone to THE SOUTH there is no place like it
and we love it. The people are warm and loving.
We are so gland you came to South Carolina!

Your home is absolutely beautiful!!! I’m a new follower and I’m looking forward to your future posts.

Wow! You’ve come a long way with the house. It looks like a model home! Perfection. I love the kitchen and so glad you left the tile, it really adds so much warmth and is perfect. Love the photos, gorgeous.

Great to have a second place to relax and hang your hat. Enjoy, looks great!

Your photography is so superb that some of the beach shots from Hilton Head deserve a spot on your walls at PB. Being a native South Carolinian for my entire life, I am anxious to hear which SC artist you selected to be featured in your spectacular beach home. When do you anticipate being able to share the finished work with your admirers? It is always such a treat to follow your talent and view the added beauty to your PB home as you continue to make it one which should be featured in Veranda or Southern Accents.

Enjoy having my coffee with you every morning reading and vowing your beautiful site. Happy New Year, Tina!

Happy New Year! Beautiful photos of a perfect vacation home. Looks like you had a wonderful and relaxing time. Love how you home is so neutral in color and open.

A “newbie” here having just found your blog over the holidays. What a gorgeous delight! I am a Southerner, born and raised in Atlanta, but now we call Montana our home. How I miss my gracious South, but now I will be able to “travel back” every month with your wonderful blog. Thank you for sharing your creative gift!
Carole

Lovely! Would you please share the color/pattern of the kitchen backsplash tile? It’s so soothing!! Thanks!
