Hi Everyone! Hope you are having a good week. Here summer is flying by and I must say we have not had a great summer of weather. Very few truly nice summer dry days. Almost all oppressively hot, humid with rain or just gray sticky days. I know I am not alone and of course realize that this could be a lot worse, just venting a little:)
I was in Saks where there were summer clothes relegated to a few racks at the back of the department and it was al most full blown fall/winter!!! So not ready for that. Then I went into CVS and wouldn’t you know it……aisles and aisles of back to school supplies. TOO SOON! I mean, can we at least, have a chance to get into the groove of summer?
I have also been working like a fiend so haven’t had a lot of “down time”. Had a few enjoyable short trips with friends, but we are hoping to get away in Sept. Being claustrophobic and one who wilts in anything above 85, the idea of going to Europe and dealing with not only the record breaking heat but hordes of unprecedented tourism does not appeal to me but I do miss summer travel! Looks like our next little trip will be to Palmetto Bluff which is always a treat:)
As I do every few weeks, I share with you the highlights (good and pretty only) of the last week or two. So here we go………
Chicken Paillard has been on the menu at least twice a week lately, I love that all the vegetables and herbs are picked form my garden, its so healthy and always delicious (my recipe will be featured on Sunday’s post)
Burning one of my favorite candles from East Hampton Gardens, with a picture of my beautiful mom nearby
My new afternoon habit, addicting!
Went to a lovely dinner party on a very balmy night (aka rough hair night)
PB laundry room decisions, was overthinking the direction of the tiles, ended up going with them on a diagonal, when they did a dry lay (below) it made up my mind
Enjoyed a fun Hamptons day with a good friend, always lots to see and be inspired by, the flowers always look like they are on steroids!
Stopped into the Aerin store, which is small and charming…love a good hat wall!
Enjoyed the yummiest lunch at St. Ambroeus at their new location in East Hampton
The desperately needed hard rains we have gotten lately were much needed for our grass and flowers
Went into my yard and cut about 3 dozen hydrangeas and made arrangements for a small dinner party I hosted
Our big new round dining table and chairs are finally being delivered mid August (after ordering them 9 months ago) CANNOT WAIT
I fell in love with purple when I saw how beautiful it looks against blue and white
Put them in our huge village centerpiece bowl and it made a show stopping arrangement, shown here with our Greek key salt and peppers
Welcome to my lab/workroom aka breakfast room- since we don’t use this as a breakfast room it has become a small “workshop” where you will find things from all seasons…fun to go and play in there!
Went to a shower and can you even believe this antipasto table!!!!! Hard to control myself but I did:)
Been picking up salads a lot lately at Sweetgreen, not sure if you have one near you but their “sourcing board” of where they get everything is quite impressive right down to almonds and salt! If you have one, their Hummus Crunch salad is sooo good!
Fresh picks from my garden are becoming a daily happening now, I have dozens and dozens of tomatoes just a week or two from ripening….see lots of tomato dishes in my future!

Silver is 30% off as we are phasing out of our beautiful collection. We are very well stocked though things are moving every day. A great chance to score incredible silver at hard to beat prices.
What a nice and pretty post to start my day! I love your new house so much. So classic and grand, I think I like it even more than the last house:-)
Your dining table is beautiful with all these purple hydrangeas. I agree purple is so striking in blue and white. We will be in East Hampton in Sept. (first time) for a wedding, would love to know if you have any great suggestions.
Hope you stay cool out there, here we are hovering in the 90’s and its brutal! I am in Jupiter, Fla.
Between the stifling humidity and the smoke from the forest fires in Quebec, it hasn’t been an ideal summer.
A little Miracle Grow in your watering can for window boxes or containers is all it takes for flowers to go ‘Whippee!’ and start to spill over the edges.
I just realized how trite my complaining about the weather is. We know one of the families who lost several loved ones in the flash flood in Bucks county Saturday evening. The Upper Makefield Fire Dept was close by answering a call that a power pole had been struck by lightening. 6-7″ of water fell in 45 minutes, a wall of water came rushing down the creek and over the road and those people in their vehicles did not stand a chance. Did you know that a square foot of water weighs over 62 lbs? Please keep all of those families who lost children and parents in your prayers and let’s hope that the First Responders are guided to where the two youngest victims are so that they may be returned to their family.
Stay safe & well, All.
Hi Tina,
What a beautiful home you have!!
I realy love this post about the Hamptons.
It gives me so much inspiration to decorate my own home! Thank you
You accomplish so much in a day, in a week. I’m envious. I have good intensions to mark pending projects off my “to do list” but seems I mostly just add more projects. I so enjoy your postings and recipes. From wet, hot and humid Nashville area.

Always enjoy your musings ! Can you tell me what the name of the tile you might use for your laundry room at PB? It’s lovely.
Thank you.
