Hi there!  I am going to start doing posts every couple weeks which will be more of a creative writing experience on a whole host of random subjects. I cannot tell you how often things pop into my head that I think could be great subjects to share with you. Then life happens, I forget about them, until my next big great idea:)

So I finally got smart and started writing them down on the notes section on my phone. Which brings me to my post today. Almost every night I go onto TikTok for about an hour or so (Instagram has somewhat become less appealing due to the crazy amount of ads and their changed algorithm). There are some excellent food, lifestyle, health and shopping accounts I really enjoy taking a look at and have actually gotten some great recommendations from.

Because of these, I have purchased a number of items so yes, guess I really am easily influenced. Most of the items I have purchased have not disappointed, but have gotten some that failed to meet expectations. Thought it would be fun to share with you what I have bought fairly recently and my thoughts on them….

These are personal recommendations, I am not earning a commission on these (wish I was)  nor is this in any way sponsored.

1 YES! THESE GRATERS Oh my word,  this was the best 29.00 I ever spent! This gadget went viral and for good reason. I was fully prepared to think this was junky and would not work as shown. Boy, was I wrong! Comes with several attachments, I have only scratched the surface on what this baby can do. I have used it to grate cheese, slice onions and cucumbers and it worked like a charm and works in seconds! Last night I used it for small new potatoes to make potato au gratin and it was amazing…once again.

Plus it has a suction on the bottom that you can “lock” onto your countertop which makes it extra nifty. A must have. One day when my new kitchen is in and complete, it is a goal of mine to start a kitchen series (on cooking, entertaining, kitchen recommendations, etc…)  Click here where you can buy it on Amazon

Here is how I used it last few nights- (literally this grates in seconds)!

2 NOT SO SURE! CASTOR OIL Another viral product is castor oil. Known to work for a variety of things, the roll on castor oil was recommended for under eye puffiness. I have owned it for about 3 weeks and to be fair, have not really seen a difference. HOWEVER I also have not used it everyday. It’s pretty sticky and stays on the skin a while so it’s not really a daytime application, so have used it at night only. I made a goal to use it every night for next two weeks so I will report back. But a lot of people swear by it. Jury is out on this one

3 YES! MIXSOON BEAN ESSENCE Another very viral topic is the holy rail of skincare, Korean skincare. This product is super popular and talked about on many beauty accounts. A lot of the top makeup artists swear by it, as it acts as an exfoliant to allow make up to go on much smoother.  It basically sloughs off the dead skin and leaves your skin feeling quite soft and looking refreshed. I use it about 1-2 times a week. Very gooey but that’s part of the process! Would surely purchase this product  again. Click here to find out more.

4 YES! CHARLOTTE TILBURY SKIN TINT Cannot say how much I love this product. This is a light weight skin tint (not foundation) that has a little shine it, so if you like a dewy look on your skin, this is for you. I love that it takes the place of foundation, gives just a hint of color/coverage and makes my skin look like it’s glowing. An absolute rebuy. Click here out find out more

5. YES! DOWNY BOOSTER BEADS Yes, booster beads! I had not really heard of them but had seen them, had no idea what they even were. But one day watching someone on TikTok talking about how she discovered the secret to the best smelling laundry and it included these.

So I tried them. And boy did they work. I am literally obsessed with the scent. Every night that I put on my pjs, I take a deep breath to take in the heavenly scent. I want to bring my t shirt into a dept store, let them smell it and ask them what perfume resembles it….it smells that good, haha. I would wear this as perfume if they made it in a heartbeat! I trued the Ocean Mist scent. Love it! Can buy at any big box store, market, Amazon etc…..

6 YES! CUTEST SCALLOPED PJS I love and cherish my pj and robe collection and one thing I will not skimp on is high quality bedding and soft cotton pjs and robes. And you know how I feel about scallops:) Saw this pair and instantly bought them. They are so pretty, ultra soft and so comfy that I wish could wear them out. Definitely a recommend for me. These are from Brooks Avenue, I know there are cheaper pjs out there, but these are super soft and a great fitting pair.

ITEM 7 YES! BIG GLASS CUPS I am a big iced coffee drinker and normally make mine at home, so these huge 20 oz glasses were perfect, comes with a lid and straw. They look good and best part is that I am not using extra paper or plastic, so doing my part:) Bought on Amazon, click here

8 YES! THESE GORGEOUS SALT AND PEPPERS! These are sold separately so I bought the salt and will buy the pepper as well. The minute I saw this, I fell in love. They are so beautiful and very high quality. However I have yet to use them. The very first stage of our renovation has begun (and we are slowly packing things up on one side of the house) Kitchen will be soon. So I am going to save these for my new kitchen but how gorgeous are they. I also bought a pair for a friends upcoming birthday because I know how much she will love them and how beautifully they will fit into her kitchen. Click here

9 YES!  SBLA FOR THE NECK. Funny, never thought much about my neck until I reached my 50’s then I realized, yes, even a neck starts to show age:) So in fairness I have not used this as regularly as I should (did not realize it could be used every night)  but not sure if it’s my imagination or wishful thinking but my neck does look smoother.

I made a vow to use it regularly (every night) for the next two weeks but I can say so far this would be a definite repurchase. They have a highly regarded proprietary fat melting solution that you apply nightly which literally melts fat under neck/chin away if used consistently. You can find out more about this viral product and how it works by clicking here. I will be sure to report back on this in a few weeks!

10 CAN’T SAY YET! LIONS MANE OK I have been reading about this for a while, and hear about it all the time. I have ordered it so it’s not here yet but would be so curious to see if anyone out in bogland has used it, uses it or has any experienced with it. Lions mane is a mushroom and there are countless articles on the redeeming qualities it offers, one you can read is here.

I like falling this one guy Dr Robert Love who is a huge proponent of it and has incredibly interesting videos on a broad array of health issues but talks a lot of about Lions Mane. Apparently it’s great for improved sleep, mental clarity and can be a stress remover. If any one of those improves, I will be one happy camper!

Now in addition the above,  there are most certainly  items that I purchased that were fails. Two tops that looked adorable online came and literally were immediately donated, so cheap looking, that I didn’t even try them on (just loved the colors). A skin product that did not agree with my skin. A tablecloth that was hand blocked but colors were really misleading online so it was an instant return.

Nothing catastrophic and I can say that most of my purchase have exceeded expectations so that’s a good thing. Next time I have a new round up, will share. Any recommendations you have or recently came across that you would like to share, I am all ears! Its fun to share our ideas, because you just never know!

Thanks for stopping by, wishing you a fabulous day. Until next time….

What a great post! I didn’t know about the cheese grater, Downey beads, tall glasses, etc. Having your analysis and commentary is so very helpful. I always read the comments before purchasing something new – but I was unaware these products even existed. Thank you. I look forward to the next installment.

Dear Tina,

I volunteer at a thrift shop where we live in Hobe sound, Florida. We get so many nice things donated to us but they often have spots on them. A friend who owns a consignment shop in West Palm Beach recommended that I try Rocco & Roxie Stain and Odor Eliminator Spray. This stuff is AMAZING! It will truly take even the most stubborn of spots out and doesn’t leave a water mark because it is oxygen based. Not as sexy as Charlotte Tilbury, etc. but still a great find!

Well this was fun and I love your idea of doing more posts for your talented creative writing skills!

In reading over the post, I immediately was making a mental checklist of everything I will buy! I have seen that grater and now that you’ve endorsed it I am buying it right away. Ditto the Charlotte Tilbury item which sounds like something I would really like.

Please keep us posted on the Lions Main and castor oil. your endorsements mean a lot because everything you recommended I have loved. I miss your old post with clothing and shoe recommendations, any chance you would want to bring those back?

I really enjoyed this. I actually own two of the products, including the grater and agree with you- best little gadget on the planet.!
I recently bought the SBLneck wand and have to say I also think I’m seeing a difference. I use it every night and have used it so far for almost 3 weeks!

Love your comments on products and your Seven on Sunday pictures. Nice addition to just shopping, shopping, shopping. Good to change it up.

We have had a brass pepper mill since the 90’s. It’s so interesting that they’ve become popular as I’ve never seen one in anyone else’s kitchen or seen them for sale until recently. . The Frugal Gourmet on PBS used one so my husband asked for one for Christmas and my mom found one at a now defunct kitchenware shop in Dallas. It’s been a great tool.

Love this idea! Thanks for sharing your opinions. We all get influenced one way or another!

Those pjs are cute!! I am not much of a cook but have seen so many people talking about the grater, think I need to get it. This was a fun post, look forward to more!
