I have found that if you love life, life will love you back.

Arthur Rubinstein

So what do you think about the new trend of pink in rooms? I am personally a fan of pink, I love pink clothes, sleep in pink toile pjs, have pink sweaters and lots of fun accessories however I don’t recall ever using pink to decorate, not that I am opposed to it but I guess in consideration of my very masculine testosterone fueled husband, I have never even thought to “imprison’ him in a pink house!
Then you throw in 3 very masculine sons and need I say more. My crusade to impose a pink palette into my home would not last more than a few minutes.

However, I am very interested in what I have been seeing lately….lots of pink. I like some of the rooms below, I tend to like the really soft milky pinks, and the one picture of the hot pink wall is kind of neat looking against the blue and white jar with the flowers…. The trend in the furniture markets is showing this color a lot,  along with lots of bright colors…..its a fun trend but can’t be sure its here to stay. So…lets rethink pink and take a look at some rooms that have dared to go to the  “pink side”. Let me know what you think…… I have also first included a few recent pics of the house, nothing terribly new and exciting but baby steps!

Still lots of snow everywhere…….along with the construction trucks

So are you going over to the “pink side”? I think I will probably stay put with the color schemes I have in mind though I must say I have opened up a little bit more about how pretty pink can look, though it is a bit more challenging in a household like mine which is 4 parts male to 1 part female. So think the pink will be largely confined to my closet for the time being:) Have wonderful day!

I have to be honest pink just isn’t my thing. For some reason I have a real aversion to it so I avoid it at all costs. Not sure why it turns me off since I like orange and red and everything in-between. Besides like you I have a husband who wouldn’t care for it either. Now your home, love your bay window in your breakfast room, nice room sizes. What are you facing the fireplace in your dining room with? Love your mantel that you saved from your old house it’s really stunning. I can’t wait to see some of your decorating, once you get walls, you’re going to have so much fun! Thank you for sharing your new home with us.

Debra,

Ok. Where to begin… First, I am in love with your fireplaces and the old mantel. I’ll admit, I’m seriously coveting them right now. I love the brick work in the fireplace itself. Nice details. Second, are you having exposed beams in your family room? I {heart} exposed beams. Next, I love pink, but I don’t care for pink walls. I like using pink as an accessory/accent color. I’ve seen people display pink depression glass and decorate an entire room around it. Finally, some friends of our were given a fully restored, pink gas stove/oven as a wedding gift from his parents. His mom is an excellent interior designer and she designed their 1950’s home. Their pink kitchen is darling!

WOW! The house looks spectacular…truly a dream house and enchanted for sure! I also like pink but not in home decor, the only room I would consider doing in pink would be a small personal home office (it would have to be closed off from the rest of my very neutral beige house) my husband would die! Even my daughter didn’t want a pink room:) But I do think the pictures above showed pink in a lovely light and that it can look quite pretty in the right setting.
Also I subscribed to this blog but so you know I see there are new posts but I didnt’ get any new emails announcing new posts..you might want to check into it..fyi. Love the blog.

Hi! Visiting via Hampton Hostess.
I love pink, but also find it a bit of a challenge to work with in a room. Your dream house does look enchanted! So nice to “meet” you and look forward to sharing your journey.
Best,
Colleen

I’m really enjoying your blog and following the progress of your absolutely gorgeous home.

And I picked up a great idea today! I have the same big blue/white jar you mentioned in one of the pictures and had never thought to just leave the top displayed next to it–thanks!!

Hello everyone!
Acquired objects…we are putting an antique french mantle in the dining room as well as the living room. Yes, that old mantle is really pretty and we are determined to find a home for it! It is my pleasure to share the progress….

My not simple domesticlife….the herringbone in the fireplaces was my husbands idea(he is very into the small details) yes we will have exposed beams in the family room. I am like you, appreciate pink but not necessarily enough to design a whole room around it!

Maryanne, thanks! I am aware of the subscription problem and several have made me aware, I am working on it, its a bit frustrating but I promise we will work it out.

North of 25a-so nice to meet you too! Agreed pink can be a little difficult and thats AFTER it gets approved by all household members (not an easy task)lol

Kerry- so glad you got some inspriation today and happy you are enjoying the blog! Its getting its “new look” in less than 2 weeks..can’t wait!

Most of my house is done in blue & white, but my home office/sewing room is my sanctuary, and that’s done in pinks. The walls & carpet are beige, but the furniture is white, and the upholstery is a pink & white floral pattern. I have framed pictures matted in pink, and a lovely “girly” pink lamp on my desk. It’s definitely a feminine room. It also allows me to display some of my daughter’s “treasures” (she passed away when she was four years old, so I wanted somewhere where I could keep her things on display)

I am dying over all of the enfilades in your house!!!! And the breakfast room window is stunning. I love this stage of construction. So much possibility and wood – I love the raw wood. That family room is amazing too! Keep the pictures coming.

I’m a guy and girls can have all the pink they want anywhere they want. Thanks for the house pictures. I can’t imagine…

Thanks for your comment on the crab brucshetta. Glad you enjoyed. I highlighted a designer team today that I think you might enjoy, If you get the chance to stop by. Their work is incredible. Your home is incredible. Will be fun watching it progress!

Your home is going to be incredible (already is)!!! It should be on a home tour at some point in the future. I’m a girl who likes pink mostly in fashion, but a pop of pink, say in the bedroom, is fine even if the bedroom is shared with a male. Can’t wait to start seeing some of your interior design/decorating choices.

As you probably realize by now, the room with the “funky colorway of hot pink” is the Red Room of the White House and the color effect that you saw was just a result of image reproduction that manipulated the spectrum with more purple than actually appears in person. But do not feel bad; it happens all the time. A project of mine was reprinted in a “Southern Accents” book on color, and every single room was pictured in an incorrect chapter! Otherwise, this post was a great assortment of pink rooms that I enjoyed very much.
