Hello. Hope you are off to having a wonderful weekend. We were supposed to go to Palmetto Bluff and for no reason our flight was canceled and they wanted to put us on a connecting flight that would turn a.2 hour flight into a 6 hour ordeal (with stopovers). NO THANKS. The airline industry is really a mess right now. Just had to vent!

My dad  has been doing some extensive traveling so my “supply” is running short:) However this first one might be the best yet if you haven’t seen it before, do grab a tissue. Can’t say I didn’t warn you!

And why can’t American short films be like this, just capturing the human spirit. Simple, emotion and so powerful=to

To me, this is so on point yet hilarious…

Subject:  Team rename suggestions

I think all sports fans and most everybody else will get a kick out of this letter written to the Chicago Tribune. No matter which side you are on in the matter of renaming the Washington Redskins, this is funny. This guy is hilarious…
This is an e-mail sent to Clarence Page of the Chicago Tribune after an article he published concerning a name change for the Washington Redskins.
Dear Mr. Page:  I agree with our Native American population. I am highly jilted by the racially charged name of the Washington Redskins. One might argue that to name a professional football team after Native Americans would exalt them as fine warriors, but nay, nay. We must be careful not to offend, and in the spirit of political correctness and courtesy, we must move forward.
Let’s ditch the Kansas City Chiefs, the Atlanta Braves and the Cleveland Indians. If your shorts are in a wad because of the reference the name Redskins makes to skin color, then we need to get rid of the Cleveland Browns.
The Carolina Panthers obviously were named to keep the memory of militant Blacks from the 60’s alive. Gone. It’s offensive to us white folk.
The New York Yankees offend the Southern population. Do you see a team named for the Confederacy? No! There is no room for any reference to that tragic war that cost this country so many young men’s lives.
I am also offended by the blatant references to the Catholic religion among our sports team names. Totally inappropriate to have the New Orleans Saints, the Los Angeles Angels or the San Diego Padres.
Then there are the team names that glorify criminals who raped and pillaged. We are talking about the horrible Oakland Raiders, the Minnesota Vikings, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and the Pittsburgh Pirates!
Now, let us address those teams that clearly send the wrong message to our children. The San Diego Chargers promote irresponsible fighting or even spending habits. Wrong message to our children.
The New York Giants and the San Francisco Giants promote obesity, a growing childhood epidemic. Wrong message to our children.
The Cincinnati Reds promote downers/barbiturates. Wrong message to our children.
The Milwaukee Brewers. Well that goes without saying. Wrong message to our children.
So, there you go. We need to support any legislation that comes out to rectify this travesty, because the government will likely become involved with this issue, as they should. Just the kind of thing the do-nothing Congress loves.
As a die-hard Oregon State fan, my wife and I, with all of this in mind, suggest it might also make some sense to change the name of the Oregon State women’s athletic teams to something other than “the Beavers (especially when they play Southern California. Do we really want the Trojans sticking it to the Beavers???

I always love your articles and I generally agree with them. As for the Redskins name I would suggest they change the name to the “Foreskins” to better represent their community, paying tribute to the dick heads in Washington DC.

Thanks Dad  for something funny and something that really stirs your soul. Amazing how simple a story can be to really make you feel something. I have personally never been one for sci fi, action, etc…just not my jam.Give me a good story that makes me feel, laugh, cry, etc……that’s what I love.

Anyway thanks for stopping in, wishing everyone a wonderful day. Until next time………

I have seen the video of the young boy and his teacher numerous times. I have it on my Facebook page and watch it often. Everyone in life is dealing with something. Thanks for posting.

loved the comment on the sports team name changes
you know it is wrong thought when the Indians are ticked off
they are changing the names for they think (rightly so) it is an honor

Remember history – the Marxists start eliminating culture and person identities
in their process to destroy a country and its citizens. See WWII, etc.

Love the Saturday selections. I cried and then had a great laugh! Ah the human spirit. May we all remain sensitive enough to appreciate it!!

Too right, too cool. As a cold I was always told not to upset or offend. At 71 in this World I find this impossible. It seems that judt breathing offends some!!! ( esp my neighbor) 🤷🏻‍♂️

I always love these with your dad, I love his sense of humor and wonderful perspective that first video did indeed bring tears to my eyes. Tina, sorry about your flight, flying is not what it used to be. The same thing happened to us about a month ago when we were supposed to go to Napa Valley, it wasn’t until two days later that we could catch a flight. It was infuriating.!!! do you want me?

Great share. I’ve never watched this video- it brought on tears.
The renaming of the Redskins is another example of how common sense is becoming extinct—and it’s very sad too. We are having lots of rain and grateful for it. Sorry about your travel plans. But then, sometimes when things don’t work out it’s for the better. Hope you enjoy the weekend.

Your Father provides so much information and comment. Today was just great. Please have him continue his great comments.
