_______________

I am celebrating today…we have gotten out every last one of the presale and recent porcelain orders out the door!! This was no easy feat and was one intense, long hard week of nonstop work. So happy and relieved that is done…now it’s full steam ahead:) Today it’s all about relaxation…not moving a muscle.

It’s hard to believe its the last day of July…this is when I really feel summer speeding up. We will be taking our son back to school in 2 weeks so I am trying my best to savor as much of summer as I can. This week was all about work…..very little play. I am so excited about my blue and white ornaments and Provence planters…they were a huge hit! Now we sit back and wait for them to come in, early Sept.

At that point thinking about Christmas won’t seem so ludicrous:) So here we go with this weeks Seven on Sunday……

1 A WINERY PARTY. This is what you get when you match a talented party planner who has great vision with a beautiful Australian winery….a party I would love to attend. It’s casual but elegant and so inviting….I am craving a crostini this very minute polished off with dessert wine and chocolate:) From The Brown Paper Bag….

2.INSTAGRAMS OF INTEREST. Love sharing my faves of the week with you, and this week most certainly does not disappoint, so much to love and admire! A definite light and airy “ode to summer” vibe going on here, heavy on stunning interior spaces with wise words thrown in….

3. NEW MOVIE ALERT! Going see this today…looks great and I am holding on with great hope that this will help redeem Hollywood in my eyes as lately I am very disappointed with the movies out there.

Haven’t been at all motivated or inspired to hit the theater in a long time (not counting having to be an accomplice to see Jason Bourne with my husband, his decision not mind:) This looks worth going to if not just to ogle over the old Hollywood glamour and wardrobe:) Here’s the trailer….

4. NEW FAVORITE RECIPE! I am often intimidated by shrimp. But let’s face it, when done right…..grilled tasty shrimp are amazingly good. Saw this recipe over at Rasa Malaysia and decided to give it a go.

So I gave this a try after buying shrimp and not sure what I wanted to do with them…..easy and really really tasty! Just wish I had made more:) I squeezed a lot of lime juice over them when they were done, the key is to not overcook. If you like them hot, it’s (to me) feasible to do this for smaller crowds however was thinking this could be great for summer salads served cold/chilled too.

It was a huge hit and will surely be making a return visit to this household. Click here to see the original post where I found this wonderful recipe.

Chili Lime Shrimp – juicy and succulent shrimp marinated with chili and lime and grill/baked to perfection. So good and so easy-

Ingredients

1 lb peeled and deveined shrimp, tail-on

Gluten free

Produce

  • 1 tbsp Cilantro leaves or parsley, fresh leaves
  • 2 cloves Garlic

Condiments

  • 1/2 tbsp Honey
  • 1/4 cup Lime juice, fresh
  • 2 tbsp Thai sweet chili sauce

Baking & Spices

  • 1 Pinch Salt

Oils & Vinegars

  • 2 tbsp Olive oil

Soak the bamboo skewers with cold water. Rinse the shrimp and pat dry with paper towels. Set aside.

In a bowl, mix all the ingredients of the Marinade together using a whisk. Add the shrimp to the Marinade, make sure to coat the shrimp evenly. Marinate for 30 minutes (I marinated mine for about an hour in a ziploc bag).

Fire up the grill and grill the shrimp until cooked and slightly charred on the surface. Serve immediately

5. SERIOUSLY GREAT DEALS. I got so many bargains yesterday at Neiman Marcus’s Last Call. Today is the last day for the up to 65% off and let me tell you there are serious deals over there. 7. A SURVEY! I love getting to know who my readers are and just as you have gotten to know me a bit…I enjoy getting to know more about you as well. Every Sunday I am going to feature a one question survey just for fun. It is totally anonymous and it will be fun to see what the results are. So ready for this week? Let’s start with a bang shall we:)
I am  a combination of amused, often underwhelmed and occasionally embarrassed by this presidential race…..and wondering what the pulse is out there from all of you. Again this is totally anonymous:)

Tina….I saw cafe society this past week and loved it. I thought it was one of woody’s better movies. Hopefully, u will like too!
Enjoyed your seven on Sunday as always! Kathy

Hi what a fun Sunday post there is so much to comment on – I actually hosted a 50th birthday party for my husband last year and it was a wine tasting party so those first pictures brought it all back , it really is such a fun party theme .

The movie looks great I have to add this to my list of things to do this week
– and will pass your shrimp recipe on to my husband who is the cook in this household ?
Hope you get the relaxing Sunday that you deserve ! I am so excited about the planters and ornaments .

Thanks for the reminder to follow Steven Gambrel.
That wine picnic has lots of good ideas to try out.
I still haven’t seen the latest in the “Visiteurs” series–“Bastille Day,” not to be confused with the action movie. The Visiteurs are totally hilarious–Jean Reno as a medieval knight transported to the present. Gags galore, and usually very gorgeous sets.

Tina,

Happy Sunday! Congratulation on shipping all of your fabulous blue and white goods! I am sure that everyone will love their new goods.

I love discovering new Instagram sites, thanks for sharing those.

Looking forward to that movie too! i have not seen a good movie in a long time.

Enjoy the day.

Being on the Gulf Coadt means lots of shrimp. Shrimp kabobs, shrimp creole, shrimp, bisque….. You get the gist. Another good recipe is margarita mix for the marinade then grill. You must try this sometime. Loved the post by the way!

Hi Tina…. The results of your pole are frightening. Trump all the way??! Heaven help us!
I love Woody Allen. Dying to see that movie too!

I don’t live in the US but travel there often. Your upcoming elections are scary, not just for your country but the rest of the world, if Trump should win. I just don’t get it.
Love Seven on Sunday. I must try that shrimp recipe. Yes, the secret is to not over cook. That fruit platter is beautiful. I have a round, wood cheese tray that would be perfect. I may accompany it with chocolate. Love Beattie’s garden. Have a wonderful Sunday!

hi tina, thanks again for another entertaining post!

i had to lol at your poll; i was torn between the first and third choices listed.
actually, the third choice is how i really feel and at the polls will have to DEFAULT to trump! ;p

Happy Sunday, Tina!!! We saw Cafe Society the day it opened and thoroughly enjoyed it – quite entertaining! I have to say, the results of your poll are seriously scary and you have got guts to include it on your blog! Hope your week goes well! xoxo

I was absolutely stunned by the results of the poll!!!
I truly don’t get it. I am shell shocked by anyone who takes Trump seriously.

What a delightful post- having come from a funeral this was the perfect remedy for my mood.
The presidential election is frightening . In my eyes either way- we are stuck with a liar and a narcissist. Tina, always enjoy your Sunday posts and am excited about my new porcelains I just received, they are even prettier in person.

Tina,
Can’t wait to receive my ornaments!!
A narcissist one can deal with, a liar and a traitor to our country one cannot.

Hi Tina

Not gonna get into the political debate although I did answer number 3…But wanted you to know you have gotten me into some serious shopping with Last Call…I registered and my pass word is “Tinasfault.”.told my sister and her pass word is “Gaylesfault.”..doing some Christmas shopping in July…Love LOVE LOVE the Paterre Bench!!

If Trump wins,G– help everyone in every country.
Our children, and grand children’s lives are in jeopardy.
You are brave Tina to put this poll out there.

I respect anyone’s preference in the elections. This year however, there really is no choice. The results of your poll are very disturbing. I’m going to find out more about the vice presidential candidates and vote that way & hope the president will die. Not sure that’s the answer either …. Feeling defeated!

Great post, Tina! As always it is interesting, fun and refreshing. I applaud you for the poll…and totally agree with Jo Anne that everyone should respect another’s preference in the election.

Your presidential poll is very scarey for me! I cannot believe that the majority is for Trump “all the way”. For the life of me I cannot understand why there are so many people who do not see, do not care or, even worse, agree with his message of divisiveness! I understand the anger and frustration with Washington and their lack of statesmanship but I am shocked at the number of people who are okay with Trump’s messages of intolerance and hatred. Is that really the direction we want our country to go? That’s very sad! I think the people who support him are just like him – they are all about me, me, me!

Love your Seven On Sunday. The Poll was interesting…
Hillary has been so dishonest from the beginning that she is scary!!!
Trump I am afraid is going to get us nuked!!! I am going to continue to Pray!

Sorry but couldn’t resist.
“For the life of me I cannot understand why there are so many people who do not see, who do not care, or, even worse, agree with his message of devisiveness.” Precisely why so many are turning to the Republican candidate. The alternative is simply more of the same.

Tina, I admire you for putting the poll on this post. I’ve lived in Arkansas for many years, and I can understand the results. This is a very hard election year for many.
Thankful you shared so much beauty, too!! I always look forward to your Seven on Sunday.

Tina love this post as I do every Sunday. I actually have a little ritual about not reading it until I have my coffee in my hands and then I escape into my husbands office and read through every word. It’s a beautiful way to start my Sunday.

I just love that bench and the shrimp recipe looks so good. I will try that as we eat a lot of fish/shrimp. How many skewers do you recommend per person?

That poll-eeks! I would vote for my 6 year old son before I would vote for Trump. The man is scary and could put our country in great risk, not to mention he is putting himself at great risk by all he says and all whom he offends. Hilary is not much better as she is so deceitful but I feel like she might be the lesser of the two evils, really don’t like either one so #3 was my vote. I have never felt so deflated by a presidential election as I do this year. A sad day for America.

Thank you for bringing such beauty to uncertain times, we need it more than ever.

Tina, thank-you for reminding us that there is still beauty in the world, as bleak as things sometimes seem to be. It also reminds me of how lucky my family and I am to be living in this country, which has rewarded our hard work and given us a very blessed lifestyle. But that lifestyle has also isolated us from the reality that many Americans face. Our son did not have to enter the military, and all the responsibilities and risks that implies, in order to obtain his college education.

As someone who would be considered Independent but leans Republican, I am saddened, disappointed and embarrassed that THIS is the best that the GOP could come up with! Gosh how I wish Michael Bloomberg were running. I hope more people re-watch (or even watch) his speech and take the blinders off. We are in the process of taking down an old pool shed and re-landscaping the property. I half-joked about marking a place to build a bomb shelter and I could see that my very level-headed, logical, rational computer geek hubby was actually considering it!

This has got to be the most polarizing election I have ever had to vote in. I hope that people look long and hard at the candidates and the issues we face. After watching the Khan family and the abuse they are now taking, I have to ask myself this: which Commander-in-Chief would I want my handsome, smart, big-hearted son to serve under? Who would be the most likely to ask him to make the ultimate sacrifice and put him in harm’s way in order to respond to a personal slight? Perhaps if every family had ‘skin in the game’, if every family had a loved one who HAD to serve in our military, then perhaps more people would take this election more seriously and not look at it as if it’s a sequel to some very twisted reality show. (Someone keeps bringing up Libya as if he never had personal dealings with Gaddafi himself…Google it…)

Not a huge Hillary fan, but I will give her this: I had the pleasure of speaking with Chelsea Clinton two years ago. She is lovely, poised, unaffected, intelligent, down-to-earth woman. Children are not raised in a vacuum, and her mother had a lot to do with the person she has become. Trump loves to take full credit for how his children have turned out, as if his first wife, Ivana, had nothing to do with it. As someone who, due my husband’s busy career, often had to be a single parent and put a lot of time and energy into raising a decent and productive human being, that attitude really ticks me off, and it should offend every mother in the same position.

Here’s hoping that we survive election season! It’s going to be a bumpy 99 days!

I don’t get all the Hillary haters saying she is a liar and deceitful.

I guess the republican propaganda machine has worked. Year after year of attacking her.

I myself, don’t see it and trust her completely. I’m with her!!!

Thanks Tina for posting this poll. Your readers love creating beautiful environments and events for their families and others. I am so saddened to see the many who label those who would vote for Trump as selfish and divisive. I do not agree. Thank God we live in a country where free speech is allowed. I respect that right. May we never be under Sharia law. Trump is a very imperfect choice, perhaps a third party will arise from this year of two less than ideal candidates.
I appreciate your blog and am inspired to make our world a more beautiful place for future generations.

Go see Hillary’s America at the theater to see the real Hillary Clinton! While I am not a Trump fan, I cannot vote for a woman (or a man) who is dishonest to the core and the evidence of this is overwhelming. She is the most calculating, evil woman on the planet. Seventy percent of Americans believe this country is headed in the wrong direction. We have had the worst economic recovery since 1949. The national debt has doubled under Obama to $19 Trillion. More of the same is not the answer.

i’m famished now! pineapple, shrimp and some fresh tomato topped crostini, s’il vous plait. happy monday to you, friend. congrats on getting that shipment out. and you still have the courage to think of the holidays! ha! i am enjoying the gorgeous weather and ready for a desert adventure in a few weeks. peace.

I so wish you had another option – Terrified of (insert Hillary OR Trump) but voting for the lesser of two evils. I can’t participate in your poll given the limitations.
