Good morning, well this has been by far the busiest week of the year so far! We are in the throes of our busiest two weeks and it’s been truly non stop, sometimes feeling like there is not a minute to come up for air! It’s a fun kind of crazy but by 6pm I am ready to collapse into bed:) You may not be surprised to hear, with the little time I have been home, my halls are relatively barren. In fact, they aren’t even sure what season it is- there are still pumpkins and cherry blossoms lol.
However I have been slowly doing things in drips and drabs, thankfully my tree has been up for a while so that instantly puts me in a holiday mood. When I need. dose of holiday spirit I go sit in my living room for a few minutes, turn the tree lights on and am reminded instantly of how this season makes me feel. We decided literally 2 days ago to throw a small holiday family party after all . My husband really wanted to, and I certainly didn’t want to be a scrooge. Sometimes those last minute plans come together and it all works out….hoping that will be the case here!!
We are having our house photographed for a magazine next week so I am holding off on adding fresh greens until the weekend. It’s so dry that I want to wait until just a day or two before to display them so they look their best. To me, fresh greens make the season official. Their natural beauty, that heavenly scent, I must have have my fresh greens!
So…….though it’s not a lot, here are where things stand so far. My birthday is Sat, and originally we were supposed to be away but since we are doing this photo shoot on Tues. we put it off until March. Too much pressure this time of year. No thank you.
For my birthday, I will be in the city during the day, and of course will stop by my beloved flower district and that evening, we are getting together with a group of friends. This will be it until Sunday, as we are going full speed ahead and I want to be able to enjoy my birthday in peace knowing we are up to speed with everything at work! So here’s a little peek into things so far……

There is no greater decoration than that of nature…..and in this case our first official snowfall It was light but the fluffy glistening kind that hangs onto every tree branch, it was magical!
Starting to work on my mantels…this is the dining room, still a work in progress. It will be totally done in a few days (don’t want to put all the fresh greens out too soon but couldn’t resist filling these jars with these fabulous magnolia and blue spruce sprays from amazing Weston Farms (click here to visit them and get your fresh magnolia like no other)
I even set my Christmas table on Sunday!! It is not totally done but close….here is a sneak peek:) We just got our beautiful scalloped table lamps, chargers in and the etched hurricane are coming back in tomorrow!
I fell in love with this vignette, amazing the impact of a bowl of clementines! I also burned my favorite candle which is now in our darling ginger jar container…when it’s done you have a beautiful little ginger jar!
Love these little (well, not so little) they are about 2 feet boxwood Christmas trees that I put our toppers on
And of course my tree has been up a while.
And filled my favorite silver planter which we just got back in with as many paper white bulbs that I could it…they are on the brink of blooming!

And that, my friends is a wrap for today…..it’s not nearly as much as some have done but I have done the best I can and I am OK with that. I am also recognizing that next week with a photo shoot happening, it will by default, really rev up my efforts in finishing the holiday decor. So I am holding off for a few more days before I bring in the fresh greens and magnolia indoors, the heat is not their friend.
I also hope to hang my stockings sometime this weekend….so finally getting there. In the end, I know it always gets done. How about you? Are you up to speed or still have a ways to go? I do my best work first thing in the morning at the crack of dawn, with coffee in hand, I am at my peak at 6am.
Some prefer night time decorating, I like seeing everything in natural light. Whatever stage you might be in, try to savor the season and take time out to enjoy the little things (like taking a few minutes of time to take care of yourself)! I am practicing what I preach, believe me and it pays off in spades. Stay calm and jingle on. Until next time…….

Thank you for sharing your snowy photos-I love how the snow looks like a coating of frosting on everything. We rarely, if ever, get snow where I live so I enjoy photos of it from afar. It makes me want to snuggle with a cup of hot cocoa by the fireplace and a good book. Life is good!
Wishing you a Very Happy (early) Birthday!
I do stress about getting everything done, but in the end it all comes together.
The snowfall was beautiful yesterday and thankfully roads and sidewalks were clear.
What magazine will showcase your home?
Everything is just beautiful! Love the trees and the mantels. Do you know that you can spray “Wilt-pruf” on your greens to help them last longer! It helps seal in moisture so they last longer.
Tina, you will never realize how impactful you are to us- your fans and followers! Your posts are my daily “go to” for inspiration, beauty, and just plain fun. These photos are beautiful! Your home is so naturally dazzling that anything you put in place for the holidays just shines all the more! Happy Birthday to you this coming Saturday! And I wish for you and your wonderful family a blessed, joyous and peaceful Christmas. Next Year is going to be fabulous, I just know it!!!!
I love your snow scenes. They’re like an old-fashioned Russian fairy tale, especially the scroll work on the entry gate, and make me think of Hans Christian Anderson’s “The Snow Queen” (I think that’s the name of the story.). Lately, I’ve had Old Russia on my mind. Winter is the time for settling in with a lengthy Russian novel and a pot of tea. Russian tea with lots of cinnamon and orange peel.
I purchased two of your calendars for gifts, and I cannot make them work. What am I doing wrong? How do they go together?
Also, one of the stands does not have the chain. Please help me.
